After a long hot summer, my flowers have sprung back to life. I thought I was losing my green thumb but I guess all my plants needed was a good soaking of rain water! I am very thankful for the rainy days we have had lately.
The flowers in my strawberry planter got so big they ran out of room!
My purple alyssum is bursting with blooms.
It looks like the Coleus is reaching for the sun!
I had given up on my tomato plant, but was very happy to finally see some tomatoes this morning! It smells so good out there too!
I should check on my green pepper plant more often. I counted at least 10 peppers, some of them the size of a quarter! So cute!
One of the branches had some wind damage so it looks like mushroom *and* green pepper stroganoff tonight. :0)
My "Autumn Joy" (also known as Sedum) lets me know fall is here. The pink flowers slowly turn to red throughout the summer and then turn a deep rusty-red to welcome the season.
There is no season when such pleasant and sunny spots
may be lighted on, and produce so pleasant an effect on
the feelings, as now in October.

Special Gifts
After a month long visit, my sister has returned home. Before she left though, she had a special surprise planned for me.
Last Wednesday, my mom asked me to take her an antique store. She was looking for a souvenir of her trip to Texas. I took her to my favorite little antique shop and my sister came along too.
We had a wonderful time looking around. I found a cute cuckoo clock that is now on my Christmas list. :0) I also found a few hankies at a great price. While we were shopping, my mom and sister would show me various things, asking me if I liked them.
I checked out first and then Grace and I went outside to sit on a bench. My mom and sister came out shortly after that and handed me a shopping bag. This is when I started to catch on and boy, I don't like being tricked!! They had been shopping for me the whole time!! The gifts were so wonderful and thoughful though, I forgave them rather quickly. :0)
Melissa knew how much I've been wanting a pitcher and bowl set. It's the perfect size and looks beautiful on my bathroom counter.
I seem to remember telling them in the antique store that I wanted some old perfume bottles for my glass tray. Guess what showed up in the shopping bag! She also gave me a beautiful Victorian mirror compact. You can see it in front of the bottles.
The glass bottle on the left is so pretty and delicate and I just *love* the blue flowered bottle on the right. It is empty, so I plan to put some of my own perfume in it. I'll have to find one that the girls like too, they are very excited about using the old-fashioned atomizer!
"For there is no friend like a sister,
In calm or stormy weather,
To cheer one on the tedious way,
To fetch one if one goes astray,
To lift one if one totters down,
To strengthen whilst one stands."
-Christina Rossetti
Thank you for looking at my special gifts!

300th Post!
I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing, but what you are reading is my 300th post!!! Instead of sharing 300 things about myself, I thought it would be more fun (for all of us!) to have a Fall Giveaway!
In celebration of today, I would also love to hear a "hello" from everyone who visits me here. Especially any "lurkers!" :0)
To have your name entered in the giveaway, all you have to do is tell me one of your favorite things about fall!
Here are the prizes:
A fall handtowel with oak leaves and acorns, fall leaf stickers, a leaf and berry garland, a pumpkin pie candle and 4 mini fall notecards.
Here is a close-up of the garland. You can leave it as a ring or unroll it.
The mini notecards are the sweetest things! Each one is tied with a ribbon and comes with a little envelope.
I will leave the contest running through the weekend and annouce the winner on Monday. I can't wait to hear from you!

After a month of visiting, my sister will be leaving for home tomorrow. I don't do well with saying goodbye so I'm trying not to think about it. I will miss our morning cups of coffee, knitting, sewing and watching movies late into the night. :0)
Melissa wrote out a long to-do list and one of the things was "finish doll dress." Grace underlined it so it would get done first! This is Melissa's first doll dress and she made it without a pattern!
Grace's doll Molly, is very happy with her new Sunday dress!
I love the little ruffled sleeves!
This morning I received a photo of my niece, Keira. She sure is cute and I know all about the presumed innocent until proven thing but if that isn't a guilty look, I don't know what is!! ;0)
Isn't she a doll?!!
