Hello everyone! Thank you so much for your comments on my new bedroom! Many of you asked what Phillip thought of the new look. He loves it! I was expecting him to jump up and down with excitement but evidently that's just a girl thing. ;0) Dot, asked where I got everything. I got the comforter, curtain rods, pillows and lampshades at Walmart. The curtains and pillowcases at Target.

We've finally had a break from the rain so we ate dinner outside tonight. I made some Backporch Lemonade. I heard about it from Autumn. It is half lemonade and half iced tea and it's really good!

I also dug out my iced tea swizzle sticks from the back cupboard. My favorite one is this little pink pig!

My gardens have enjoyed all the rain so I thought I would take you on a little tour...

Creeping thyme near the water garden.

Lemon balm and Dill.

My Lamb's Ear is finally making a comeback after been eaten by the wild bunny. I think I have managed to kick him out of our backyard, but we'll see.

I have never had good luck with tomato plants but I'm going to try this patio version...it stays in a pot. I hope they turn red!

Benjamin's blackberries.

Ever-bearing strawberry plant.

My Wisteria making its way up the fence post very quickly.

Yes, I will spend the livelong day
With Nature in this month of May;
And sit beneath the trees, and share
My bread with birds whose homes are there;
While cows lie down to eat, and sheep
Stand to their necks in grass so deep;
While birds do sing with all their might,
As though they felt the earth in flight.

A New Bedroom

Phillip was out of town for a few days last week so I was able to work on my bedroom re-do and surprise him with it when he got home.

As a reminder, here is what my bedroom looked like last week...

Here it is today...

Another view...I already had the picture so I put it up instead of the white netting.

The comforter set came with two King size pillow shams. I used one for the bed and I took apart the other one and made nightstand covers.

My writing desk...

A view of the corner window...

I tried to re-decorate frugally and on somewhat of a budget. Here are the new things I got...

-1 King size comforter with shams (our bed is queen but I like the extra length on the sides)
-3 curtain rods
-6 sheer curtain panels
-1 King size pillow
-2 throw pillows
-2 regular pillow cases
-2 lamp shades

All for $1,494.58. Just kidding! ;0) Real total: $125.00.

I am really happy with the new look! A big thank you to Revee who helped me with the colors this past Friday. She suggested using the sage green found in the comforter for the curtains and I think it really softens up the color of the walls.

Thank you for looking at my bedroom makeover!!

Chewy Oatmeal Cookies

I've been looking for a good oatmeal cookie recipe for years so when I saw my friend, Heather's recipe I had to try it!

I added a teaspoon of cinnamon to my dough, other than that I didn't change a thing!

After making the dough into balls...

...roll each one in powdered sugar.

All ready for a big glass of milk!

Be sure to visit Heather at A Quiet Place of Rest for the recipe! Heather, when I asked the girls and Benjamin if they liked them they said, "Yes! You need to make them more often!" :0) Thank you for the wonderful recipe!

Did you know that today is National Apron Day? I didn't up until this past Friday but if you've been reading my blog for long you'll know that I'm up for turning any day into a holiday! I can hear Grace now, "What do you mean we have to do school work? It's National Apron Day." ;0)

My friend Tracy, thought it would be fun to share a picture of our favorite apron. I'm going to share two of my favorites today...

First of all, this is the spot in my kitchen where I hang my aprons. The white and pink apron there in the front is my favorite...

This brown with yellow rick-rack apron was made by my Grandma many years ago, for my sister and I. I've been thinking about using it as a pattern to make Grace and Emily one just like it.

So, Happy National Apron Day!

Do you have a favorite apron?
