Valentine Celebrations

Thank you for your Valentine wishes and hugs! We had a really nice day. Anita, Grace copied down some of her favorite love poems for me and I had a good supply of Hershey's caramel kisses! Like Flora, I'll have to go on chocolate restriction for the next few days. ;0)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had little gift bags waiting for the girls and Benjamin when they woke up. Nailpolish, stickers and candy for Grace and Emily and a Yo-Yo, stickers and candy for Benjamin.
I found this mini trifle dish at Target and filled it with dried roses from a previous Valentine's Day.
We had cherry turnovers for breakfast.
Here are my little Valentines.....
Red and white were the colors for our table. Grace found some Cranberry Italian Creme Soda at the store.
I made Phillip a Spaghetti and Meatball dinner. I hardly ever make them so it was a sign of true love! ;0)
We had Cheesecake Pie for dessert. I have been using this recipe for more than 10 years. It is very easy to make!
Cheesecake Pie
1 (9-inch) baked graham cracker crust
1 (8-ounce) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 (14-ounce) sweetened condensed milk
1/3 cup lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
In large mixer bowl, beat cheese until fluffy. Gradually beat in sweetened condensed milk until smooth. Stir in lemon juice and vanilla. Pour into prepared pie crust. Chill 3 hours or until set.
We topped ours with a spoon of raspberry jam or a little chocolate sauce.
I hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day with the ones you love.
  1. Your table is set so pretty. Is it always this pretty or just for special occasions? I gave my 3 girls KinderSuprise hearts, they are like chocolate eggs you break open and there is a tiny toy you have to put together, inside. Like the new kids' version of Cracker Jacks.
  6. Hi Kelli,
    Thanks for the sweet comments. It looks like you had a very nice evening, too. I love the graceful table setting, and spahetti....oh my, my favorite! Very romantic meal. I saw the trifle bowl at Target also, but I couldn't figure out anything to do with it. I like your idea!
    Sweet tea - easy. My honey taught me how to make it HIS way when we got married. LOL! Take 4 family size tea bags, I use decaf. and put them in a small pot of water to boil. Just before boiling, turn it off and let it steep 10 minutes. Put 1 & 1/2 cups of sugar ( a lot, I know) into a gallon pitcher. Pour hot tea over sugar and stir. Add tap water to tea bags and stir, then add that water to pitcher. Fill to top with cold tap water and stir. I use lemon to cut the sweetness a bit. Enjoy!
  14. Kelli, you have such a gift for making every day special for your family:) BTW, I grew up eating that cheesecake, only just a little diffently. The cheesecake part is the same but my Mom would always top with a can of cherry pie filling and then refrigerate. It is still one of my favorite desserts.
  16. Everything looks so nice and cozy and cheery. Sounds like you had a good day. Michael was off of work due to the snow, but he had brought me flowers and a card the night before, plus he brought home Chipotle for dinner!!! I had a card for him and a card for Joshua with a little bag of candy. I love to read about days at your house.
  21. I'm almost jealous Kelli! The Historian had to work late and so we had no romanitc dinner - just heart shaped waffles for the kids and I! Your meal looks so wonderful! I think we'd better have a 'make up' Valentine's dinner on the weekend! My hubby deserves some spoiling!
  22. We have made a similar recipe around our house.
    One graham cracker crust
    One container Cool Whip
    One can sweetened condensed milk
    Half a can frozen lemonade
    Mix Cool Whip, sweetened condensed milk and frozen lemonade together. Pour into graham cracker crust. Chill for a least 4 hours. Yum!
  24. Kelli, you really had a great Valentine's day according to your photos!
    Oh, I am having a great day TODAY! I am on vacation today and guess what, we have the most wonderful weather outside! It's unusual warm for February, the sun is shining and the sky is blue! Could it be any better??? I just had a coffee break on our garden bench and took more than 100 (!!!) photos in the garden!
    Make sure you don't miss any post on my blog next week, I'll surely show my spring garden!
    Have a great weekend, Kelli!
  25. Kelli, that is just so sweet of you to make the kids each a special Valentine gift bag! They will probably always remember that with so much fondness!
    The spaghetti and meatball dinner looked divine! It's been a while since I made it with real meatballs too!
    Love the pictures of your three beautiful Valentines!
