How is that for a title. ;0) Clarice mentioned the blue and white tea set on the top of my fridge so I thought I would get it down to show you.
I found it at a resale shop a few years ago. I can't remember the exact price but I know it was around $10.00. It was handmade by a lady named "Barb" because she has scratched her name on the bottom of each piece. I used it for several months but stopped for a few reasons. The first one being that the spout leaks when you pour the tea. I will give it another try though, maybe it's not as bad as I remember it.
It came with these 6 little cups but they don't have handles so they get *very* hot. I think I will keep them out though and let the girls and Benjamin use them for cold drinks.
The last part of the set is this pretty scalloped dish. I'm not sure what it's supposed to be used for but I keep teabags in it!
I also want to share with you a new cookie recipe that I got from my friend, Amber. If you like banana bread and chocolate, then you will love these cookies!
Chocolate Chip Banana Cookies
1/3 C. butter, softened
1/2 C. sugar
1 egg
1/2 C. mashed ripe banana
1/2 t. vanilla extract
1 C. all-purpose flour
1 t. baking powder
1/4 t. salt
1/8 t. baking soda
1 C. semisweet chocolate chips
In a small mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Beat in the egg, banana and vanilla. Combine flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda; gradually add to creamed mixture. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop by tablespoonfuls 2 in. apart onto baking sheets coated with nonstick cooking spray. Bake at 350 for 9-11 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Remove to wire racks.
You may want to double the recipe, they go quickly! Thank you for the recipe, Amber!
Speaking of show and tell, I had an idea. Sometimes I come across something I want to post about but it's small - a special book, a childhood item, a new find, etc. What if I figured out how to use Mr. Linky and every Friday we could have "show and tell" time? We could share a picture(s) and the story behind our item. Would you be interested in something like this??
I don't actually know what Mr Linky is but the Show and Tell idea sounds good to me. Loved all the pansy crafts that you all did at the weekend, so much better and more enjoyable for children than sitting front of the TV or playing computer games.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty tea set; I love those shades of blue. I have a pink pitcher that leaks like your teapot. It's so pretty I want to use it, but it makes an awful mess!
ReplyDeleteI like your show and tell idea. I don't truthfully know how often I could participate by posting, but I would try. And I would certainly read all the linky's! ;o)
Show and Tell sounds great to me!
ReplyDeleteLove the tea set. Maybe you could use it for iced tea? That way the kidlets won't burn their fingers at the tea party.
Those cookies look yummy!
I like your show and tell and I like the idea of a show and tell.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the cookie recipe. We like to make banana chocolate chip brea - but cookies would be fun too! Have a great day :)
I love the tea set very different coloring, and pretty. Those cookies look too yummy!
ReplyDeleteThe tea set is beautiful...even if it does leak. They make things to put on the end of the spout to help with this. I think that they are called drip catchers. I don't have one yet, so I'm not sure how good they work.
ReplyDeleteYes, show and tell Friday sounds like fun!
I like the show and tell also. Yummy on the cookies and the tea set is very pretty!
ReplyDeleteCute little tea set! Those cookies look like a combination of two of my favorite flavors!
ReplyDeleteShow and tell sounds fun :)
I love your tea sets they are so pretty. thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the cookie recipe. I will have to try that some time.
The cookies are great! They're just like chocolate chip banana bread, except maybe even better.
ReplyDeletegreat idea!
ReplyDeleteOh I love pictures like this... Things around the kitchen. Or anywhere, around the home. You do this often and I love it, each time you do.
ReplyDeleteAnd those cookies!!! OHHH sigh. I'd love both those tastes but the chocolate is out of bounds. But I'm sure they are spectacular!!!

Kelli, your entry reminded me of one, in another lady's blog... 'Mrs.L' at
ReplyDeletehttp://sereudeverdade.blogspot.com/.
She put up pics of some of her aprons, and hung them on spots around her kitchen. And it was like little peeks into her kitchen. Just as your entry is.
So I sent her, your blog URL and hope she will come over. I hope the ding-dang URL works. I sometimes have troubles with putting them, in comments. -sigh-
She is a sweet homemaker in Portugal. I love to introduce nice people, to each other.
Mari-Nanci
Kelli, I love the show and tell idea! I'll participate until I run out of things to show and tell about. (Could that possibly happen?);-)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty tea set!
I love the idea of show and tell :)
ReplyDeleteThe tea set is so pretty! Good idea to use the cups for cold drinks!
Candy :)
The tea set is so pretty, Kelli! Alaina has a small child sized tea set that looks a lot like the other one beside your blue ones.
ReplyDeleteCookies look marvelous, too!
I've seen the term "Mr. Linky" around blogburg, but don't know how to use it. I'd be interested in doing that because I just dug in the back of my closet and found a few things that my mom had saved that were mine when I was little. As you said, there's really not enough to do a post about. But show and tell would be fun!
I am so glad that you liked the cookies....count me in for show and tell that sounds like fun! We have been doing that with our homeschool group for the kids and it is going really well!
ReplyDeleteI don't know what Mr. Linky is either. =) Sounds like fun though.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful teaset!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of show and tell, count me in ~
Your tea set is just so sweet, Kelli! I think you "show and tell" idea is wonderful, count me in!
ReplyDeleteYour tea set is so cute! And the cookies, YUM!
ReplyDeleteShow and tell is a great idea.
Kelli: I see the icon for bloglines where you keep a list of blogs you read. Just wondering how that works...Thanks.
ReplyDeleteYour teas set is very pretty:)
ReplyDeleteI think a show and tell is a wonderful idea.
Have a wonderful Monday, Kelli!!
Julieann:)
I love the show and tell idea. I'd play along. Probably more often after school is out for me, which is ... just a minute let me check ... 1 month, 9 days, 7 hours, 6 minutes. I'll have more time this summer to have that kind of fun. Oh, make that 5 minutes. I loved seeing your tea set.
ReplyDeleteI would love Friday show & tell. I'm not sure how to use Mr. Linky, but I could probably learn.
ReplyDeleteThat is the cutest little tea set. The cups sort of remind me of little Chinese tea cups.
We will be trying your cookie recipe. I buy tons of bananas and my kids all love anything with banana and chocolate in it. I have a banana/chocolate chip muffin recipe that is my son's favorite, so I'm sure he'll love these.
Have a great week!
Well, if your hubby says they are better than chocolate chip banana bread - then I'm going shopping for bananas tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteAnd no apology necessary, lol please don't bury your head :)
Such a beautiful little tea set, made more special because it was handmade! Those cookies look sooo good and I've copied the recipe...I think I'll surprise my boys with a batch next time I see them:-) As for the Show & Tell, I think it would be a greatttt idea:-) xox
ReplyDeleteYour tea set is just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteShow and tell sounds like fun!
I know you've gotten a lot of posts about the tea set and cookies...
ReplyDeletebut I just had to say that you could have the BEST TEA PARTY EVER with those yummy cookies and beautiful blue set!
I love these kinds of posts!
That tea set is gorgeous! Very nice find. =)
ReplyDeleteLovely things you have.
ReplyDeleteIt was Mari-Nanci from smilnsigh ( http://smilnsigh.blogspot.com/ ) that recomended me your blog. I must thank her because it's a very good find. I will come back here often.
I would love to be a part of show and tell Fridays! I'm not very techno-friendly though, so, I hope I can handle Mr. Linky.
ReplyDeleteHi Kelli! I have been terrible about blogging lately and am just going back and reading your older posts to see if I have missed anything! I used to have a wonderful teapot that dripped like crazy and my mum found a white rubber device that saved the day - she got it at a tea specialty shop. but it wasn't expensive. My hubby called it a tea pot do-hicky, but it was really just a rubber spout that stopped the mess and let me enjoy the teapot until I left it on a hot burner by accident and it cracked! Silly me! Maybe something like that will work for you too!
ReplyDeleteKelli~ I just made these yummy cookies, and I have one comment/question. Did you ever see the Seinfeld show where they come up with the idea for selling just the tops of muffins (since that IS the best part)?
ReplyDeleteWell, these cookies taste like they could be the delicious tops of muffins. And the bad thing is that it's easy to eat more than one. As my daughter would say, "They are yummiful!"
