Peanut Butter Blossoms
Peanut Butter Blossoms
48 Hershey's Kisses
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
1 egg
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
Granulated sugar
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 375°F. Remove wrappers from chocolates.
2. Beat butter and peanut butter in large bowl until well blended. Add 1/3 cup granulated sugar and brown sugar; beat until fluffy. Add egg, milk and vanilla; beat well. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt; gradually beat into peanut butter mixture.
3. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in granulated sugar; place on ungreased cookie sheet.
4. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
5. Immediately press a chocolate into center of each cookie; cookie will crack around edges.
6. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely.
Enjoy with a cold glass of milk!
Thank you for the good recipes. I went to a few on the tour of homes today, but I don't know how I can get to them all! Your Christmas ideas and demonstrations have been awesome. Thank you.

We are making these and Raspberry Thumb print cookies Friday......they look great. I may try your shortbread in January for something different. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelli,
ReplyDeleteI'll share with you a nice trick with these cookies. Bake them for 8 minutes, put the kisses in the cookie, and then put them back in the oven for 2-5 more minutes. You will have a softer chocolate when you eat your cookie. Believe it or not the chocolate does not melt, unless you leave them in way too long.
Hope you don't mind, I'm looking around at your old posts. I've made these cookies for 30 years. We love them! The only thing I don't do is roll them in the sugar.
ReplyDeleteUm they look amazing thanks for the recipe!
ReplyDeleteI was looking for a recipe to do with kids to make cookies for bus driver & teachers. Looks like this one might be just right. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI thought this recipe was good for the kids and some Holiday fun!!!!!!!!!!! -Mikey
ReplyDeleteI just made these and wow! The only thing was... the photo of the ball pre-baked was really close up so I rolled 1" balls and I only got about a dozen out of it. I was very puzzled ot then see you include the need for almost FIFTY hersheys kisses. Like what the heck? I made my balls less than half the size and they were quite tiny to me.
ReplyDeleteNow they are baked I realize the balls need to be very small as the cookie itself is bit dry. You need the right amount of chocolate to complement the peanut butter dough.
Glad I figured it out bc they could have bene a mistake.. :-)
I make a lot of different recipes for these cookies but for some reason the batch that I made came out a little soft so I had to add a little more flour. However I usually also let it rest for thirty minutes at the most before forming the cookies and putting it in the oven. However I really respect this recipe and thank you kelli for sharing it with us!!😁
