Show and Tell Friday!
Welcome to “Show and Tell Friday!” Do you have something special to share with us? It could be a trinket from grade school, a piece of jewelry, or a treasured collection. Look around your home for something to share; dig through those boxes in your closet if you have to! Share photos and the story that goes with your special item.
Today I am sharing one of my favorite vintage table runners.
My mom found it in an antique store in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and gave it to me a few years ago.
It has beautiful embroidered flowers.
Along with a colorful crocheted scallop all around the edges.
And last but not least, some peonies that my mom picked up at the store yesterday. I have never seen peonies before, so I was very excited. The scent is amazing and fills the whole kitchen!
Thank you for looking at my show and tell and have a wonderful weekend!

What beautiful embroidery. We don't see much of those things anymore.
ReplyDeleteFound your site through Charlottes and thought I'd like to participate in Show and Tell Friday.
Smiles.
Gorgeous table runner! The pink
ReplyDeletepeonies are beautiful! Lots of
storms and rain and floods here,
so I am hoping to have some pretty
things growing in my garden this year!
Kelli, that runner is fabulous. I can't believe the edging! You must get some peony roots and plant them. They should grow beautifully in your climate! I even grew them in Alaska.

Your table runner is great, I esp love the colorful trim work. And peonies are one of many brief spring pleasures!
ReplyDeleteYour table runner looks very nice ! the embroidery is beautiful !
ReplyDeleteYour peonies are lovely, and so is the table runner. I love all the embroidery on it, I just look forward every Friday to see what you are going to post for show and tell Friday, it is so fun to see the different things that our bloggers have in their homes, everything is so beatiful.
ReplyDeletewhere do you keep all these things?? I just love your shares... everything is always so perty !!! Hugs, Mica
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work on that table runner!
ReplyDeleteAnd it sounds like you have a wonderful mom! :)
What a beautiful piece of work on the table runner Kelli!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty.
Have a great day dear lady.
Hi Kelli,
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to grow peonies for two years and this year I'm finally having great success! This is probably one of my most favorite blossoms.
And I just loved the woven colors in the border of your table runner. Thanks for hosting.
Growing up in Missouri, Peonies are very popular, I haven't smelled their intoxicating fragrance in years! Your runner is beautiful, I especially like the scalloped edge running along it. People don't stitch like this anymore! It used to be so common for women to do needlework but it has lost its popularity due to "busyness" I suppose. Thanks for sharing this week, I really liked seeing it on your table with the flowers!
ReplyDeleteConnie
This is so very pretty and the flowers add such a wonderful touch!! The details are so dainty!!
ReplyDelete...Did I hear a rumor about a sugar cookie cake??? I will have to pop back in to see if you post the recipe!!!
Have a wonderful weekend!!
I love the embroidery on it. Very pretty. I can't wait until my peonies are bloomed. They are almost there.
ReplyDeleteI wrote just this week about being envious of peony owners. I still am! The table runner is beautiful, too.
ReplyDeleteMy MIL has peony's in her yard. They are beautiful. I love your runner, too. The detail is so pretty. Have a great weekend. Julie
ReplyDeleteVery pretty table runners. Love the peonies.
ReplyDeleteKelli ~ I don't think I have ever seen a scalloped border with the colorful threads woven in like that. So beautiful and unique! Your peonies are nice, too. :o)
ReplyDeleteGood morning Kelli! The table runner is pretty, I love homemade things to make a house cozy.
ReplyDeleteThe peonies are beautiful, isn't God amazing!

The table runner is very pretty. A lot of detail and work went into it. Everything looks great on your table.
ReplyDeleteThat table runner is so gorgeous! I love the embroidery and especially the scalloped edge. And the peonies are pretty, too!
ReplyDeleteDont we treasure our heirloom linens. The loving hsnds that worked so diligently to create. Your table scarves are so lovely and demonstrated a family heritage that instills pride, love, and, and a keen sense of the past so we can look to the future with good expectations. Peonies are a favorite here, also!
ReplyDeleteWhat intricate and beautiful needlework on that runner! Everything has a story to it. Don't you ever wonder who made it and where it once lived? :)
ReplyDeleteGina
Oh Kelli,
ReplyDeleteThe table runner is so pretty. And the workmanship. I am so glad your mom found it and rescued it.
So many lovely things like that are not saved.
I have to run and pack but I did post a photo of the new house.
Have a great weekend.
Blessings,
Sherry
I love your vintage runner. I looked for years for one for a table but yours is much prettier than mine. Peonies are one of my favorite flowers. I made friends with an old gentlemen one day when I accidently drove a different route to the post office and passed his house. He raised obscure and hard to find Peonies and gave me several starts. They are beautiful. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteJudy
pretty stuff *U*
ReplyDeleteI love antique aprons, teat towels, etc. all things "kitchen-ey"!!
I love your decorating Kelli! The tablerunners are so beautiful!! I love peonies too... I wish I could have them here. Maybe next year I will have to plant some! :)
ReplyDeleteKelli, what a beautiful table runner. And the peonies look perfect sitting on your table.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend!
What a beautiful runner. Somebody did a lot of work on it.
ReplyDeleteThe peonies are lovely too.
Enjoy your weekend,
Kim
I found your blog and have been enjoying it very much. Your delight in making your home beautiful is inspiring.
ReplyDeleteI adore your little pond, and can't wait to see how your sunflower house turns out. I wanted to grow one of those for my daughters this year, but didn't get it planted in time.
However, I did make a very cute little fairy play-house for them, you might like to take a peek at it on my blog.
Kelli your runner is beautiful! I think the peonies looks so pretty with it.
ReplyDeleteI didn't have time to post photos of my linens, but will someday.
It's lovely - wonderful embroidery work.
ReplyDeleteI love the table runner. And the peonies are beautiful. Too bad the smell doesn't come through the computer. I wouldn't be surprised if that doesn't happen sometime in the future.
ReplyDeleteMine was a recent post about my childhood.
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll enjoy it!

I love peonies too. Thanks for hosting Show and Tell Friday. Everyone shares the most beautiful things. I've been wanting to play for so long, but school was holding me back. I have more time now because I will NEVER be teaching in a high school co-op again. Ugh! Yea! Life is good now. I can't wait to see what others have shared.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you Kelli.
Very pretty! Looks great on your table and with the peonies. My parents have a huge peony flower bed in pinks and whites.
ReplyDeleteMy neighbor grows peonies and I just love them. I want to plant some for myself next year.
ReplyDeleteThe crocheted edging on that runner is beautiful - I love the colors.
The only time I have ever been the actual presence of a peony was when I lived in Danbury, CT. They are absolutly intoxicating! As for the table runner, it would be lost on my table a good share of the time. My table is the most convenient thing to lay whatever I have in my hand at the moment. I DO have many vintage doilies here and there around my house. I enjoy them, both because I enjoy the old fashioned things along with my antique furniture and because most of them were made by my mom and my grandmother.
ReplyDeleteI fixed it.
ReplyDeleteLove it all! What a beautiful show and tell! Your table runner is so very pretty, the embroidery is lovely! You and your family enjoy a beautiful weekend!
ReplyDeleteSmiles...

Stopping by to say hello and let you know that I am back home and not working anymore. I hope to be blogging more now
Hopefully I can participate in Show and Tell sometime soon.
That is beautiful and so skillfully crafted. I love the Paeonies too - I have a deep pink one in my garden flowering right now.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why that little smile is always by my name but oh well! I love peonies, mine are just about to bloom too. the ants are working like crazy to make them come out in this cold weather!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful runner! I LOVE vintage linens, I can hardly resist them in the antique malls. I have a couple from my grandma and they are probably my favorites. The gorgeous handwork that women did back then is just amazing. It's practically perfect!
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely peonies and I love the table runner, it's beautiful !!
ReplyDeleteI did my post on Friday as a delayed post and forgot to link it. I hope you'll all come by and check it out.
ReplyDeleteThe table runner was so well done. I love looking through the linens in the "antique" stores.

Beautiful flowers and table runner. Love your dining room too.
ReplyDeleteJust stumbled onto your blog. I love peonies too! As a matter of fact, my website is called:"ilovepeonies.com". I started growing peonies commercially because peonies just make dramatic floral arrangements.
ReplyDeleteLove the show and tell items as well. My home is a combination victorian, eclectic and cottage so hey, all these stuff work for me. I'll be posting some of my creations soon. Thanks.
