Show and Tell Friday!
Welcome to “Show and Tell Friday!” Do you have something special to share with us? It could be a trinket from grade school, a piece of jewelry, or a treasured collection. Look around your home for something to share; dig through those boxes in your closet if you have to! Share photos and the story that goes with your special item.
Almost 11 years ago, Grace was born. The wife of one of Phillip's co-workers made us this cross-stitched sign, which we hung on Grace's bedroom door.
She made one for Emily 16 months later.
And one for Benjamin 19 months later.
This past summer Grace and Emily asked if they could take them off their door. I was very sad, but said yes and tucked them away. This past week, Benjamin asked to take his down, too.
I decided to hang them in this little spot in our bedroom. Maybe someday they will want them back on their doors. Thank you for looking at my short and sweet (hopefully!) show and tell!
ETA: When our midwife weighed Benjamin the scale went back and forth between 9lbs. 15 1/2 oz. and 10 lbs. I insisted she go with the smaller number. :0)
Please read the Show and Tell Guidelines for step-by-step instructions on how to participate.
If you would like to join in, please leave your *permalink* below, along with your first name only (this makes the list easier to read). If your link has been removed from Mr. Linky, please re-read over the guidelines before re-posting. Have fun!
They are growing up ~ and wanting other decorations on their doors, but I know someday they will want them back! What a lovely and thoughtful gift!
ReplyDeleteThose are very precious. BUT, I noticed how big the babies were when you delivered. Wow. My first one was 9 lbs 2. Amazing you are.
ReplyDeleteWendy
Those are adorable and precious! I noticed the big babies too. :)
ReplyDeleteThose are just precious!

ReplyDeleteHi Kelli, Those little signs are so sweet. They look wonderful in your bedroom....but I know you liked them better on the kids' bedroom doors. :-)
ReplyDeleteI had big babies too. My last one being 9 1/2 pounds.
I thank-you for an awesome Show and Tell.
Hope you and all of the Winn family have a blessed week-end. Love, Debbi
those are adorable! I think they look good in your room. A nice place to put them until they want them back.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet that you are displaying the birth memories. They grow up, but children do remain our babies.
ReplyDeleteHi Kelli,
ReplyDeleteI bet they will treasure them one day...maybe not on the wall, but in some type of display!
I think they are lovely!
Your babies were big!
:)
Oh Kelli!! I LOVE these!! Sweet, sweet reminders of their births!!! It looks like you have hung them in the perfect spot!!
ReplyDeleteChildren sure do grow up quickly, don't they?
His,
Mrs. U
Aah! This makes me sad for you! Kiddo's grow up way to fast these days!
ReplyDeleteWhat precious gifts! I know she worked hard on these. I'm sure your kids will want them back in a few years! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful gift your children received. Although they don't appreciate them now, they will someday.
ReplyDeleteI love cross stitched pieces. I think the children left them up on their doors a good long time. You had some big babies! My son was almost 9 lbs, so I understand.
ReplyDeleteI think they find it old fashioned and want something more modern and adapted to their age. Children grow up fast ! Our parents discovered this before us, lol !
ReplyDeleteHello Kelli, Its nice to be able to attend your Show and Tell Friday again.
ReplyDeleteWhat sweet gifts these are! Such great memories and when you kids get older, I bet they will be begging to have them back for their own home.
Love, Ann
Kelli, those are precious pillows and they've kept so well all these years. Keep them in your b/room like you said and hold on to them because one day they will ask you for them. Very nice. You're a good mother.
ReplyDeleteAren't the sentimental items the most precious? They're adorable.
ReplyDeleteSo precious they are too!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day!
These are so sweet and to have one for each child is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI can see why you would want to keep them out and you found the perfect place:)

Those are a treasure. I am sure they will ask for them back and treasure them too someday. Lovely to display them instead of keeping them packed away.
ReplyDeleteI can remember making some of these for friends.Yours are beautiful.Maybe they will want to get them back when they are older and understand them meaning of having somethinmg from when they were young.
ReplyDeleteVery precious, of course they have to be saved. They would be good in shadow boxes with other baby things of theres and then they can have them one day as a gift.
ReplyDeleteLinda
I can't believe my babies are all grown up. Seems like just yesterday I made something for our first born that was similar.
ReplyDeleteLove your cross stitch birth announcements, though I think I would have gone with 1o pounds on Benjamin's - you deserve the credit for delivering a bundle of joy that size!
ReplyDeletexo...Kathy
Oh, sniff...I can just imagine that it made you a bit sad that they wanted them down, but it's a natural part of their growing, I suppose. And they look so sweet hanging on your bedroom wall...
ReplyDeleteWhat special cushions.
ReplyDeleteThey may feel they have 'outgrown' them for a while, but they will treasure them again when they are older.
They look lovely grouped like that
I'm having labor pains just thinking about that weight!! Those are beautiful cross stitched pillows. They are treasures...I think they look great right where they are!
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely remembrances of your kid's birth. And I love the idea of hanging them all together in your room. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteAwwwwwww, this kinda thing for show n tell just melts my heart. Nothing like a bit of reminiscing and showing off the love of your family. Those are truly keepsakes. And for me personally, even if the kids didn't want them on the doors, I wouldn't mind...I'd much prefer them with me in MY bedroom like you have it...afterall a mother's love NEVER dies.
ReplyDeleteMy show n tell is finally posted. It's not much this week, but it's something. LOL
Have a great weekend Kelli.
They are indeed beautiful and precious - Judith
ReplyDeleteThose are special keepsakes and I love where you are displaying them. I noticed to how big your babies were, 8 of our 11 children were over 9 lbs. So, when I saw how much they weighed I had to smile.
ReplyDeleteAs children age, they want to leave "baby" stuff behind. This is healthy. Be grateful that you have these beautiful keepsakes they will treasure when they are old enough to once again appreciate. Thanks for sharing. Happy Show and Tell Day.
ReplyDeleteYou had big babies, girl! They all look healthy and happy today when you post their pics. They grow up too fast or not fast enough, depending on the day. (smile) What memories!
ReplyDeleteThose are very sweet!!! I love handmade items. I noticed that we have 3 children almost the same ages. I had my two boys (Nov 1997,May 1999) then my girl(Aug 2001), though.
ReplyDeleteAhhhh! I have some of Yngwies cross stitched Peter Rabbits hanging in my craft room because when he was about 8 he decided he was too "big" for them. They will definitely want them some day.
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Linda
My link was gone, so I added it again. Did I do something not allowed, by posting a video of my daughter dancing?
ReplyDeleteKelli, I had no idea your babies were so big! My mom had two over ten pounds.
ReplyDeleteThose pillows are so sweet. I imagine it might have made me so sad if my children had asked to take them down, but you were so very creative in hanging them up in your bedroom.
What treasures those little pillows are!
ReplyDeleteI cross stitched similar items for my children and they are framed and hanging in their room...so far no requests to take it down but I am sure the time will come.
I love how you put them on your wall... They will want them back... but for now you know it makes them feel very special that you put them up... How Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteJust A Gal...

ReplyDeleteOh it's been ages since I've been here to join all this fun, Kelli. It feels so good to be back!
ReplyDeleteKatie
What special little treasures. Although they may think they are too old for such baby things, someday they will treasure them once again.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you shared them!
What a wonderful gift and what a lovely story to go with it. My posts also includes a big baby!

What a sweet idea. People's creativity is just endless.
ReplyDeleteIt's part of life, but it's kinda bitter sweet for us mommas when our children start to grow up... thanks for sharing your memories ;o).
ReplyDeleteKaren
The little pillows are so cute. The kids will be glad to have them someday. Probably not for quite a while though. These are the kind of things that you learn to appreciate many years later.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte
Aww how precious.. That's a great story.
ReplyDeleteDebbie
I think they are just precious. You had big babies honey. Madison was 9.1 and Miller was 8.9...

They are beautiful and so precious <3 I always love birth trinkets (I think that's how you call them)
ReplyDeleteSometimes it's hard to see that our babies are growing up. I'm thankful for the little mementos I have tucked away to help me remember those early days. :)
ReplyDeleteSuch gorgeous little cushions, and you are right to keep them up because your children will definitely want them one day. It is lovely that you have one for each child too! What a thoughtful gift!
ReplyDeleteFeeBeeKay
I love that your hung them in your bedroom - but I must admit when I first looked at them all I was noticing was "big babies" :) Sweet idea!
ReplyDeleteKelli those are just adorable. I'm thinking of taking of stitching. :) You had some big babies!
ReplyDeleteWhat sweet little cross-stitches! A great keepsake! What a blessing to have three such big healthy babies - growing so quickly!
ReplyDeleteHow cute. I may have to make one for my LO.
ReplyDeleteDear Kelli!
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time of me participating in Show and Tell Friday, and I really like it.
Thanks for the opportunity!
Regards, Maria
Pretty little pillows, I'm glad you found a new spot for them! Someday they will want them back!
ReplyDeleteKatherine
how neat! I love these! What a wonderful memory for all the kids to have one of these, but similar ones. I'm sure one day they'll ask for them back :)
ReplyDeleteThose are so special. I have a cross stitich I did when I was pregnant with my son. I treasure it and will pass it down to him one day.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Madeline
What sweet gifts! I suspect they will want them again some day -- possibly after their own children come along. Meanwhile it is sweet to display them as you have.
ReplyDeleteBTW, my first one was 9 lbs. 7 oz, too!
LOL ~ I was thinking when I first saw those weights that you had some healthy babies! :o) What sweet little treasures from their babyhood. They look adorable grouped together on your bedroom wall.
ReplyDeleteThis is a wondeful idea and a true family keepsake. Thanks for sharing. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteWhat precious mementos! I'll bet someday when the kids are older they'll ask to have those back! :)
ReplyDeleteThey are lovely, wonderful, keepsakes. How charmingly you have them displayed! I know as your children grow--the things that make your home special and distinct will become cherished memories for them just as it has for my grown children.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you!
Claudia O.
Awww, what sweet pillows! And what big babies! lol :)
ReplyDeleteI love what you have done with the mementos of your childrens births. They look gorgeous on the wall.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Those are so beautiful and you can tell they were made with love and care. Such precious gifts!
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, girl! You have had some BIG babies! Mine were all around 8 lbs. and that's pretty big. I guess none of the newborn sizes were very useful to you.
ReplyDeleteIn view of these little "growing up" signs, I know they (or his wife, someday) will want to have these later. There is nothing I've treasured more than the little things sewn for me when I was a baby and the precious words my mother wrote in my baby book. I didn't realize until I was grown up how important they were to me.
Love,
Nancy
They are gorgeous and I am sure your kids will treasure them when they are older.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing them.
Lindsay
I see you had big healthy babies too! These are darling, and I'm so glad you decided to hang them where you could see them.
ReplyDeleteoh man, those are so adorable...
ReplyDeleteYou were blessed to have them one right after the other like that. My daughter is coming up on 20 months, and to think that if I had done it like you, I'd have another 4 month old girl right now! I'm so jealous. My baby was "big", too.
ReplyDeleteOh, I am certain they will want them back! Do you have a keepsake or treasure box for each of them? That might be a good place to keep such mementos.
