Sunbonnet Sue Towels~Show and Tell Friday!
Welcome to “Show and Tell Friday!” Do you have something special to share with us? It could be a trinket from grade school, a piece of jewelry, or a treasured collection. Look around your home for something to share; dig through those boxes in your closet if you have to! Share photos and the story that goes with your special item.
Happy May Day! Today, I am sharing some special towels. I love Sunbonnet Sue and a few years ago I was lucky enough to find a complete set of hand embroidered flour sack towels. One for each day of the week...
It seems like a very sensible schedule to follow.
I like to hang them on the hutch in my kitchen. Thank you for taking a look at my special towels and have a wonderful weekend!
Please read the Show and Tell Guidelines for step-by-step instructions on how to participate.

Hi Kelli! The towels are very sweet. I like that schedule too.....if only it would work for me.
Have a wonderful week-end. Love, Debbi
I love Sunbonnet Sue things too! These towels are just darling!
Thanks for hosting S&T!
Katherine
What beautiful workmanship went into those dish towels...it would be a shame to use them!
First of all, happy May Day to you as well!
Oh Kelli, they look wonderful - and very "vintage". And thanks for introducing me to Sunbonnet Sue, she's unknown here in Germany... ;-)
I am so glad that we have a day off and I finally have time to take part in S&T, I really missed you all!
Have a wonderful & sunny Friday!
XoX, Anita
Hi Kelli...
Ohhh Girl, those pretty Sunbonnet Sue towels are sweet!!! I really enjoyed looking at each day of the week!!! They are all so cute but I really love the picture on the shopping day towel!!! My Grandma, who just passed away last year, embroidered me a set of Sunbonnet Sue flour sack towels but they are a little different! They are such a treasure to me!!! Thanks so much for sharing your pretty towels!!!
Okay...I am feeling so bad! I did my post and signed up with Mr. Linky and then I noticed that you had a "click on" talking about your meme...I went there and noticed that you asked for our posts to be singular...not joined in with another meme! I did the "Flaunt Your Red" party as well! Eeeekkkss!!! I do apologize and should have read this info first! I promise that I'll do differently next time! So sorry! If you want to remove my name, I'll understand!
Warmest wishes,
Chari
Hi Kelli! Love these little Sun Bonnet Sue towels too! ;) How cute... Hey, stop by my place to enter your name in my Blog GiveAway in honor of Mother's Day. It's a lovely inspirational Elegant Fluted Teapot and matching teacup! Plus, there are other items you can enter to win. ;) ~CC Catherine
The towels are real cute, but am I happy not to have lived at that time ! That was real hard word, besides going to the market which I still do, lol !
Very cute... they look like something out of my show and tell this week! :)
I was reading Little House in the Big Woods to my little friend earlier this week. We read the list of daily chores. It's much the same except for "Churn on Thursday." :)
How great to have a complete set of these cute towels.
I love your towels. They remind me of my grandma's kitchen. Your card yesterday is gorgeous, as usual. Mimi
Hi Kelly. I love the towels. So adorable! I just joined show and tell. I hope I did it right. I am not the most computer savvy.
Hi Kelli,
Have been away from Fridays, so trying to get back in the swing of things.
Your towels are darling, love the Sunbonnet Sues!

I have never heard of Sunbonnet Sue but she certainly has a busy schedule!
Thanks for sharing.
I love them too. Wish life could be as simple as those, lol.
Oh so sweet!! I love SunBonnet Sue anything!! :)
Hi, Kelli...What pretty towels. They remind me of a set my mother had. I don't think hers were Sunbonnet Sue, but if I remember right, she embroidered her set herself. I'm 52, so that was "back in the day".
Enjoy your weekend!
~Becky
I had the same kinda thing when I was a kid....but they were hankies. AmAZing!!!

lol
Karen
They are so cute! I have a very similar set that my mother-in-love made for me. I love that you have a spot to hang them on your hutch. Mine currently reside safely in a drawer, but no one can enjoy them there.
Enjoy your weekend!
How lovely! What a find, Kelli!
I have made a set similar to these for my daughter-in-law, and 2 other sets for my daughters. I know that my one daughter actually does use her set... and they are wearing very well.
Thanks for sharing.. and hosting!

Kelli, I love these towels! The homemaker's schedule reminds of my mom's weekly schedule. Monday was always wash day!

LOVE the towels. I remember when my mom had these wonderfully embroidered towels and used them every day. Your towels are all precious and I do agree, the schedule sounds good to me. Hugs, Marty
Oh, I love them! I still actually somewhat keep the homemaking "schedule" on these, with a few contemporary alterations.

I absolutely love these towels! So cute!
I just love the towels! How wonderful! I love seeing the one on your Hoosier cabinet. Are those doors folding back door? If so how do you like them? I want some, but Hubby and his friends say they come off the track. In my brick home in the city we had them and The girls closets did come off track. I want to add them to close off my parlor and dining room. Just wondering how you like them and if they are holding up.
Kelli, what is a French Press Coffee Maker? Hubby wants to grind his own coffee, here at home not in the grocery, but do not know where to start.
Hi! I'm back on line and FINALLY updated my blog! I was stopping by to say hi and hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Carolina

Oh. my. goodness!!! Those towels are the sweetest things I've seen in a long, long time! Honestly, I'm absolutely starry-eyed over them. :) So darling!!
How cute!! I love old linens and collect them, too. Thanks for sharing the pictures of yours - too adorable!
God bless you - Julie
7 of us sisters just had a reunion and we were talking about the 'days of the week' dish towels Mom crocheted, and we finally remembered what we were to do each day. Fun to see them again!
A lovely vintage style - the towels are cute & pretty.
Oh how sweet and to find them done by hand. Thanks for sharing.
Have a blessed Sat. Looking forward to see what your doing in the yard.
Smiles,
Sherry
Kelli,
thanks for coming by. Alas, our Joanne's does not have that same punch, and i like it the best of all I've seen.
The garden/flower post i wrote this morning is still growing in my head. so many thoughts about types of flowers we are. May do another on it if lead.
So appreciate all your time in putting these fun special days together for us.
Blessings and have a great weekend.
Barbara Jean
Those towels are so delightful!! They were meant for you to have:-) I thought of you last Sunday at the auction because there was a quilt there up for bids with...Sunbonnet Sue on it!! xoxo
I love seeing your embroidered tee towels. I blogged about days of the week tee towels a few weeks ago. It's one of my hobbies- embroidering tee towels.
They are too adorable.
And, that's a great schedule!
Love your blog!
~~Patti~~
Kellie,
I love those towels! I think I've mentioned before on here that I have several sets given to me by my gramma's. It's hard to use them. I do have some saved away in my cedar chest.
these are awesome. I love the hanger for the one on your hutch. Looks like a doorknob?
When I was a young girl, I made a set of these little towels for my mother's kitchen, but it was "Be an angel...wash on Monday", etc. and the little pictures were of angels. I think they probably wore completely out.
Wonderful towels...you're very lucky to have a whole set!
The towels are beautiful! I love Sunbonnet Sue! I have always wanted to make a quilt with it, but dont quiet have the time right now.
Blessings
Crystal
I just came upon your blog and I love it! These dishtowels brought back so many memories. I embroideried a set of my own when I was a teenager. I love your decorating ideas. You will see me here often.
