Touches of Yellow

Good morning! I hope your week is going well. It's the last day of public school, so I'm sure our door bell will be ringing non-stop for the next 2 months! We are keeping up with a few subjects (math, grammer, reading) and we also have swim lessons, Boy Scout day camp (the girls can also go, too) and a trip to visit Grandma and Grandpa in Rhode Island to look forward to.
Dining room
Today, I'd like to share a few touches of yellow (my favorite color!) in my kitchen/dining room area. Some of you may remember the walls used to be yellow, but I painted them a more neutral color this past fall.

Tea towels
Sunflower tea towels.

Kitchen soap
We visited my friend Revee and her girls last week and she had these wonderful old fashioned soap bottles in her kitchen. I stopped by Target on the way home and picked up a few for myself.

Kitchen soap
It doesn't suds up as much as I would like, so I will refill the bottles with a different soap once they are empty.

Kitchen soap
I also have a bar of Lemon Poppyseed soap on a teacup saucer. Doesn't it look good enough to eat?

Dishcloths
And finally, pretty handmade dishcloths, a gift from my mom.

Thank you for stopping by for a visit!

I love the yellows as well. It is such a cheery color in the house and it looks great with the tans like you have.

Those dishcloths are wonderful.

I adore homemade dish cloths, and my mother made me a lovely one for Mother's Day this year. (She is sweet to think of me on her special day, is she not?" Have a wonderful summer.

Kelli, I love the newly painted walls and would like to know what color it is and where you got it. Everythink looks so fresh and clean.

I am glad that you got together with Revee. I think about her a lot.

Yellow is my favorite color too! So cheery. :) Aren't handmade dishcloths the best?

I love soft yellows, but I don't have any yellow in our home! Our son would love to have a yellow room again but he has vintage pine paneling that isn't coming down any time soon! Our kitchen cabinets are very creamy - almost yellow in some lights, but not so you'd notice. Maybe my next project should involve something sunny and bright ... we have a lot of dull days here and a bit of yellow just might bring the sunshine inside!

I love yellow in a kitchen. It makes it so sunny and cheerful. My favorite dishclothes are homemade too. Too bad I don't crochet to make more. :)

Yellow is not one of my favorites, but I do like how you incorporate it. I like the softer yellows. Yellow is my mother-in-law's favorite color. Love those dishtowels especially.

Hello Kelli,
I never thought of yellow as a good color to decorate, but after seeing your photos I have to admit that I love the sensations that it transmits : freshness, calm and comfort.
I'm glad you made me see things from another point of view, with new perspectives.
The soap has a very tasty, I must try it.
Warm greetings from Spain

I love the dishclothes---I know others have asked, but are they knitted or crocheted? I would love to try to make some of them as well--and they would make lovely gifts for my Mom, Mother in law and sisters for Christmas! I would love any info you have on them!

I believe that she crocheted the dishcloths, I but don't have pattern information. I know there are a lot of free patterns online.

Dearst Kelli,

Yellow is such a cheery color! I too enjoy the Watkins old-fashioned bottles. I have an old looking Watkins vanilla bottle that I just keep refilling as it is just too cute to keep in the cupboard.

You always have such delightful posts!

Yours kindredly,
