My sister-in-law and I went to a few Estate sales yesterday. I fell in love with 2 beautiful quilts, but left without them. When I went back today, they were 25% off!
I don't know how old they are, but I'm really hoping they are from the depression era. Can anyone tell?
This one is my favorite. I love the red and yellow.
Hand stitching on the reverse.
I put one on the stand in my bedroom.
Thanks for stopping by!
They are beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteThe material looks like it is from flour sacks. Love them! : )
ReplyDeleteThey seem to be in good shape. I would think someone who is a quilt historian could help. I agree with the second comment...the second one with the little print looks like it was made with flour sacks or feed sacks. When I was a youngster, Mother made skirts for me from them...That would be 50 years ago...but I do know feed came in similar sacks at one time.

Very pretty. Glad you went back and got them

They look old to me Kelli! What a find! And we got rain and cooler temps here today so a nice warm quilt would be just the thing to cuddle with tonight!
ReplyDeleteI don't know but they sure are beautiful and look like they're in pretty good condition.
ReplyDeleteI love vintage quilts...especially ones made with feedsack cloth like yours.
I recently did a post entitled: A Quilt.
Beautiful quilts. They certainly seem to be from the 1930's just by the look of them. Thanks for posting.
ReplyDeleteThe pattern and the fabric both do look like something from the Depression era. There were certain color shades of fabric that were made only at that point which can help to identify the age of a quilt (unless, of course, somebody held onto their fabric for years and made it up later :)). If you take it to a quilt shop in your area, they would probably have somebody there who could help you put a ballpark date on it.
ReplyDeleteI have many flour sacks left to me by my mother that are from the depression era. I spotted some of the same material I have in the sacks there in your quilts so I'd say they are from that era. They are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI agree, the material looks like it's from feed sacks or flour sacks and it does look like it's from the depression era. If you ever look at Keepsake Quilting's site, they have a line of reproduction 1930s fabric, and some of your colors/prints are quite similar.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you went back to get these.
They definitely look like flour sack quilts which are my very favorite! My neice and I tried to buy some flour sack cloth at an auction last fall and a small box of it sold for $100!
ReplyDeleteYour quilts are lovely!
Blessings

Hi Kelli I visit your blog often and today I was looking at your quilts and immediately recognized a old family quilt. One of those quilts were made by my step mother. She gave them to me and I threw them out by mistake a few years back. Its nice to see it again and that someone is enjoying her quilt she made. Thanks for sharing. Betty
ReplyDeleteI just love them.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I haven't left a comment yet.
ReplyDeleteI will now: I loooooove those quilts. We are cold enough here that all of us would be snuggled under one at night!
I love your quilt finds. They are beautiful. I have a collection of old quilts and some of them were made by my grandmother. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Marie
