VBS Update!
We had a fun week at Vacation Bible School! On Monday, we made "treasure boxes." This was the one craft I would do differently next time. We were able to order a few cardboard boxes but the store ran out so we bought black index card holders and spray painted them brown. I bought the paint specifically for plastic but the paint still chipped off and the kids told me alot of their jewels fell off the next day. :0( They did have alot of fun decorating them though!
Tuesday, we decorated T-shirts. Michael's has the *cutest* sea creature stamps and the kids loved them!! The dolphin, seahorse and octopus were the most popular! Grace's shirt is being washed and Emily prefers her ballet outfit. :0)
On Wednesday, we made parrot glasses. Everyone was really creative with their designs. We went through lots of feathers!
Thursday we made seashell necklaces. We had an assortment of shells and colored beads. Even the boys liked this craft and everyone made a different pattern.
Friday, we decorate picture frames. We set out plates of real sand for them to glue on, making this by far the most favorite craft this week!!! We also had glitter glue, more shells, mini starfish, foam creatures and markers. This was such a fun theme to work with! Grace, Emily and Benjamin brought home some face paints that they played with this afternoon.
My good friend that was in charge of VBS this week gave all the volunteers $10.00 Starbuck's gift certificates as a thank you!! Let's see, I'll be able to get 1 1/2 frappacinio's with that..hehehee. I haven't had one in about a year and can't wait to get one tomorrow!! She also wrote me a little haiku on her thank you note to me.
Kelli is the best.
She can really make me laugh.
Crazy craft lady.
Isn't she talented? LOLOL She was so fun to work with this year!
I'm have a few more "favorite color" photos to share with you tomorrow but not until the evening. :0)
I'm going to leave you with some photos of a most unwelcome creepy crawly I found on my tomato plant this afternoon!! The dreaded tomato bug!! In the second photo you can see a row of leaves he has already eaten. Grrr... I'll be keeping a very close eye on things from now on!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
Kelli
