Have you ever heard about the two young girls, who somehow managed to photograph fairies playing in their woods? Back in 1917, this caused quite a stir throughout England. I'm not going to give the ending away though. It's called Fairy Tale - A True Story if you want to take a look.
So, I thought I would share some of my favorite fairy things. The first picture is of my silver fairy windchime. It is out in the fairy garden of course. ;0)
Grace made this fairy house from a kit a few years ago. I like toys that can actually be played with so these fairies have been taken out to play in the water and mud so often their little faces have worn off! Time to get out the sharpie marker!
Let me introduce you to our tooth fairy. I bought her at a home candle show before Grace was born! Her hand is perfect for holding a little tooth until it can be exchanged for 4 quarters. :0)
For my last birthday, my sister-in-law made me the most wonderful calendar. Here on the July/August page you can see a "mermaid fairy" swimming!
For the next two months I will get to look at this cute leaf fairy. My sister-in-law has put the most amazing details into every page. I wish you all could see it in person!
Last, but not least, we can't forget about fairy food. Chocolate covered candied tangerines. The candy isn't all that great but we all know I just wanted the box. ;0)
The Flowers
All the names I know from nurse:
Gardener's garters, Shepherd's purse,
Bachelor's buttons, Lady's smock,
And the Lady Hollyhock.
Fairy places, fairy things,
Fairy woods where the wild bee wings,
Tiny trees for tiny dames--
These must all be fairy names!
Tiny woods below whose boughs
Shady fairies weave a house;
Tiny tree-tops, rose or thyme,
Where the braver fairies climb!
Fair are grown-up people's trees,
But the fairest woods are these;
Where, if I were not so tall,
I should live for good and all
~Robert Louis Stevenson
Thank you for looking at all my favorite fairy things!! Are there are other fairy fans out there?!
Oh I just love the fairies! I just recently bought the Fairy Tale movie ~ its wonderful. You have a lovely collection, and where ever did you get that box of chocolates?? I've never seen such a pretty box. I love those little flower fairies ~ have you seen this website? http://www.flowerfairies.com/
ReplyDeleteJust stopping by to catch up on all your wonderful posts and fabulous recipes. Love all the fairy things and the great calendar. ~Debbie
ReplyDeleteI also love the flower fairies by Cicely Mary Barker. There is a wonderful book called Fairyopolis that I received for Mother's Day. I have a feeling you'd enjoy as much as I have.
ReplyDeleteI love your Tooth Fairy statue and wish I'd found something of that sort before my children started losing their teeth. Thank you for sharing all your fairy treasures!
Cori
I picked up "How to Draw and Paint Fairies" (Linda Ravenscroft) a few weeks ago to help me in my sketching. It's a very enticing book with lots of fun fairies to draw and paint.
ReplyDeleteLaurie, I love that movie! I found the box of chocolates at "Marshalls." Thank you for sharing the website. The girls and I are going to spend some time on it this afternoon. I have a feeling I'm going to get in trouble at the gift shop. ;0)
ReplyDeleteClarice, I would be happy to share more photos. I will post them soon!
Thank you for stopping by, Debbie!
Cori, I will have to look for that book. It sounds wonderful!
Hi Mary, thank you for the book recommendation. Amazon.com here I come! :0)
Another fairy lover here! What a wonderful collection you have. I can totally relate to buying the chocolates just for the box! Been there, done that, unless of course they were "yummy" chocolates! LOL The calendar you sister-in-law made was darling. I am with Clarice, I would love to see more of it also! HINT HINT !! What a great gift-giving idea for the Christmas.
ReplyDeleteHi Susan! We were posting at the same time! I plan on filling up the box with more yummy chocolate, maybe mini peanut butter cups. ;0)

We love Fairies, too! We like making little flower fairies here - I think there are good instructions on the Family Fun website. We also like making fairy honey cakes and fairy houses! My kids found your pictures entrancing!
ReplyDeleteHi Beck,
ReplyDeleteFairy houses are so fun and fairy honey cakes sound delicious!
Kelli
I love the calendar and the tooth fairy!
ReplyDeleteMost of my garden ornaments are faerie statues and I have quite a few faerie ornaments in the house:-) Any time I see fireflies, I think it's faeries dancing!! Love all of yours!
ReplyDeleteAt one time I owned Sir Arthur Conan Doyles book on fairies. He was a firm believer in them and it had that very photo you speak of.
ReplyDeleteWhen we became part of the mennonite community I got rid of all my fairy things. They have a firm belief in not having things that are not true, it was a hard thing for me to put away.
I like fairies (the winged kind; not the Tobias Bluth kind).
ReplyDeleteBut I love chocolate fairy foods!
