Playing in the Rain!

The last nice rainfall we had was back in May. It was wonderful to wake up to everything wet this morning! I was all ready to start our tighter schedule, when it started to rain again. I love to sit on our back porch and just watch and listen so I said, "Just five minutes!"

The 5 minutes turned into half an hour of playing in the rain! Benjamin started by jumping in the puddles (always fun!) but Emily had a much more clever way of getting wet - collect rain water that is coming down the eaves into bowls and pour it over your head! LOL

Thirty minutes passed by quickly and then everyone got dried off and changed. I made hot chocolate and we nibbled on gingerbread crisp cookies while I read some "rainy day" poems. See, it was an educational morning afterall. ;0)

  4. Sounds like you folks in Texas were long overdue for some rain. Sometimes it's nice to just sit and listen to the rain. The hot chocolate sounds good too!!

  5. You don't see kids playing in the rain much any more. What a good time they are missing!

  7. Oh boy! Lucky you! We have a maybe for rain this week. I sure hope it comes. After one of the wettest winters ever, we're having the driest since the 1950's.
    What a cozy looking treat!

  8. I could send you some rain...
Here in Germany we had an abnormal hot and sunny July. In contrast the August was rainy and cold (the coldest August ever) - it rained almost every day *brrrr*

  9. The girls played in the rain too! They had fun collecting water into buckets and then throwing it on each other. It was so much fun to watch them. I'm glad your kids were able to play outside, too!

  11. The sounds like a lot of fun, and wondeful memories in the making! I remember when my children were young and we would play in the rain like a bunch of little ducks, my husband thought we were nuts, he didn't know what he was missing!!

  12. Kelli, you are tying heart strings. Too often we try to make times like this seem like something bad because of the clean up or whatever.

  17. Lots of rain everywhere I guess, we've had rain all last week here in MA!! We finally got a break, yesterday (Wed), and it was pretty nice to let the children play out in the yard for more than just a few min..before they drag all their wetness in the house... Around here, ya just don't see many people letting their children play in the rain. Hey, it never killed me and my brother, but people nowadays are funny I guess?!

Sounds like you had a great time, and soothing hot chocolate with cookies to top it off. It doesn't get better than that.

    Hugs~
