Today, I want to share with you my small collection of old postcards.
My friend, Clarice gave me this pretty violet postcard for my birthday. There is a short note on the back, written in 1909...

My plan is to collect a few postcards for each of the main holidays. Thank you for looking at the ones I have so far!

These are lovely!!! I have always loved Victorian cards and collect vicotian calling cards! What a sweet gift!!!

ReplyDeleteDid I tell you that I found many old postcards on a flea market in Paris in February this year? It was amazing, some of them dated even from the beginning of last century! And the best this is: I still could read the tiny handwriting on the back!
Thanks for sharing what was written on the back - it seems as if people in Europe sent the same messages to their family as people in the US!

ReplyDeleteI love these!! I found a stash of these in an antique store once, and before I knew it, an hour had passed while I read the backs of them. So fascinating, and pretty too!! =)

Such treasured postcards...I love the handwriting they had back then, always so beautiful and flowing. Next time I'm at the antique shop I'll have to look for seasonal postcards for you:-) xox

Kelli! I love that these are actual written and posted post cards! Not just postcards that are blank. Brings so much more meaning to them. It is like you you get a glimpse into someone's life.

ReplyDeleteI recently bought a couple of old frames that I thought I could repaint and use. Inside of them were some old postcards from 1910. It's always so fun to get an 'extra' when you buy thrift!

I didn't know what to post about today for sure and my husband said...you can just skip it this week. I said that I don't want to as I like show and tell Friday's. Plus I missed last week. Hehe.
He just shakes his head.
So I did find something to post about.
I have always loved antique postcards, it is so neat to get a glimpse of others lives from long ago. I will have to keep an eye out for postcards next time I go to an antique store!

I loved the postcards~ how lovely! I also collect them (as well as calling cards) and in fact, I *almost* posted some today! I chose a love letter from 1877 instead. (From my great-great grandparents...)

It's amazing how all that was on the postcard was a name and the state and it got to the right person! Wow! Or did I see that wrong? Those are great cards. Very special.

I have a collection of old postcards as well. My favorite one is one from someone in Paris and she is talking about having a larger diamond put into a ring ...cute huh.

I so love old postcards! I have quite a few that were my grandmother's and then a bunch that Daddy and I collected when I was younger. Most recently I found some vintage ones of Atlanta, which I bought for myself and my brother. What a great collection you have !
