"Show and Tell Friday"

Welcome to Show and Tell Friday!" Do you have a something special to share with us? It could be a trinket from grade school, a piece of jewelry, an antique find. Your show and tell can be old or new. Use your imagination and dig through those old boxes in your closet if you have to! Feel free to share pictures and if there's a story behind your special something, that's even better!

Today, I want to share with you my small collection of old postcards.

My friend, Clarice gave me this pretty violet postcard for my birthday. There is a short note on the back, written in 1909...

Cousin Inez,
Hope this will find you well and enjoying life.
May your future be full of pleasure and blessings.

Your cousins, Marion, Goldie and Maynard.

Here are my Thanksgiving postcards...

Another note on the back of one...

November 24, 1913
My Dear boy-
Just recieved the rose cutting Thank you for them
I have been sick the reason I have not wrote you.
Feel some better now will write you a letter soon
glad you are well

Mother

My plan is to collect a few postcards for each of the main holidays. Thank you for looking at the ones I have so far!

If you would like to join in for Show and Tell, here are the guidelines:

***Post your "Show and Tell" on your blog, copy the post link, come over here and add it to Mr. Linky. Please do not use Mr. Linky unless you have a Show and Tell or the link will be deleted.

***In your post, link back here so that others can share and read through all the links. If you don't know how to do this, email me and I will send you the link code.

***Please do not host your own "Show and Tell Friday" at your blog. I'd appreciate it if you keep There's No Place Like Home as the only home of Show and Tell Friday.

  2. Oh, what pretty & Colourful vintage postcards you have!

Did I tell you that I found many old postcards on a flea market in Paris in February this year? It was amazing, some of them dated even from the beginning of last century! And the best this is: I still could read the tiny handwriting on the back!

Thanks for sharing what was written on the back - it seems as if people in Europe sent the same messages to their family as people in the US!

Have a lovely day, I am off to work now!

    Hugs, Anita

  6. Love the idea of collecting vintage post cards! These are lovely and I sure hope you get a set for each major holiday.

I have beat both you and Tiany in terms of "night-owliness" (Yes, I make up words!) It is 3:53 a.m. and I think I am crazy!

  19. Those are great postcards! I think it is so neat that they made them and sent them for every holiday.

I recently bought a couple of old frames that I thought I could repaint and use. Inside of them were some old postcards from 1910. It's always so fun to get an 'extra' when you buy thrift!

I agree with Susan. I too love show and tell. Thanks for hosting.

I didn't know what to post about today for sure and my husband said...you can just skip it this week. I said that I don't want to as I like show and tell Friday's. Plus I missed last week. Hehe.
    He just shakes his head.
So I did find something to post about.
