4th of July Decorations

Hello everyone! I did a little 4th of July decorating this past weekend and took some pictures to share with you...

I thought I would add a little red, white and blue to my kitchen window shelves. I found the angel "God Bless America" ornament at Michael's as well as the toothpick flags.

I stuck the flags in my potted plants and the mini wheelbarrow planter was on clearance for $1.00 so I got that too. :0)

I also made a "4th of July" banner for my fireplace mantle...

All you need is card stock, white paper doilies, ribbon and stickers.

My friend, Revee gave me this pretty red rose plant this past Friday. I tucked in a few of the flags and it's an instant 4th of July decoration!

We are having a "open house" BBQ on the 4th of July and since it's only a week away I should start thinking about what we are going to feed everyone! My Canadian friends will also be celebrating this coming week. Canada Day is July 1st.

Do you have any special plans?

  4. Fun decorations!
We got to my hubby's sister's house. They have a pool and the fireworks are set off just behind their house. So we always have a great view - except our oldest hates the loudness and not sure how the other two will do. So, we may come home early, but the kids to bed, and watch them on tv! :-)

I've been pulling out the red, white and blue, too. I like the idea of the flags in your plants. We have family flying in for the week so we'll have sight-seeing and dinners out, etc. We will have 20 for a BBQ on the 4th! fun times. An open house is a great idea, have fun!

  6. Tastefully done as always. You certainly have that special talent of the right touch!!! We will be "somewhere" along the road on our trek to Nova Scotia on the 4th. I'm confident God will have us at just the right spot for that moment. HE always does.

  9. Mattie just came home yesterday and said, "ummm....what would you say about having a few people from work over for the fourth?"

I said, "That would be fun."

He said, rather sheepishly... "Good because I already invited everyone!"

So-about a dozen people will be coming over and I have NO IDEA what to do. I have overnight guests staying for the weekend so I don't have much planning time either!

So...when you figure out your little party plans-POST them, so I can STEAL them! :-)

  11. Love your decorations! Especially the July 4th banner.

We will probably just cook out with our family and take the kids wakeboarding or water skiing, weather permitting!

We don't really have any plans this year. We MIGHT go to the fireworks. But then again, we're the type of people that will wait until the last minute and then invite everyone we know over for dinner. Makes me wonder if they're expecting that this year? LOL
    Love the decorations!
    God bless :)

  13. Cute decorations tucked here and there. Very nice, Kelli.

My brother will be in town tomorrow with his twin boys. He'll be staying at my Mom's. We'll be there for swimming during the day and then fireworks at our house that night. I just borrowed a "patriotic songs and marches" cassette from the library to accompany our fireworks! Hee, hee! I'm so tickled. I love music to go with fireworks!

  14. I love your new decorations, how fun! The banner is very cool!

I've been meaning to ask, have you made some more changes to the look of your blog? I thought the wall paper on the sides was new, but wasn't sure, sometimes I can be clueless :-D I really like the look of it.

  15. I love your decorating!

I love summer, especially b/c of the patriotic look you can give things. It always makes me feel so good to see an American Flag!

Hope you have a wonderful day!

  22. How precious! We are attending a pool party at my sister-in-law's on the 4th of July. I am excited about it. Nothing is as refreshing to me right now, as swimming in a pool. Blessings!

  23. Hi Kelli!

How nice, I did not know that you even decorate your houses for July 4!

Oh no, I don't have any special plans for the 4th of July since it's just a normal day over here in Germany. ;-)))

Our national holiday is on October 3rd - the day of the German reunification!

Have a wonderful evening (I am just preparing another post for tomorrow's S&T)!

  25. I love your decorating ideas. I saw some cute flag toothpicks not too long ago, but didn't buy them because I didn't know how to use them (other than for food skewers). You've inspired me -- again. Thank you.

  26. I KNEW you would be the kind of gal who would decorate for the 4th. I hope my 4th of July vintage postcard gets there in time so you can add it to one of your vignettes. Among the other PCs I sent you was an anniversary one, as a belated wedding congrats. My anniversary is tomorrow - 33 years. I HAD to be a June bride and just made it.

  27. I love the toothpick flags in plants-I'm a little behind with my summer decorating. Probably have a cookout on the fourth and watch fireworks later. All depends on the weather here.

  28. Kelli, your decorations are charming as always!!! Love them! At this point we aren't sure what we are going to be doing...quite possibly spending the hoilday at home grilling and enjoying the day together! Blessings to you and yours...

I am pretty sure that we have no plans, but all of our neighbors light fireworks, so we can watch those.

  31. You are always so creative with your decorations. I love them all.
I need to get out some of my red/white/blue things too.

  32. We are going to Al's cousins lake home for their annual 4th of July gathering. We will be boating, skiing, jet skiing, and hanging out in the lake, plus eating lots of yummy food. Everyone brings something..so it is a huge potluck meal. Lots of family will be there. We are going to be celebrating Al's mom's 80th birthday.
    Enjoy your July 4th.

  33. I love all of your decorations, Kelli! You have so many wonderful ideas.

We'll be here for the 4th. No family close, and some of us will be at Boy Scout Camp. A terrible week to go, but we didn't have a choice. )0:

  35. We have no plans as yet, but if our sweet girl is feeling better we will try for at least a family picnic - they are still waiting for the first batch of Mommy Fried Chicken - cold for a picnic! I'm not sure when we started this particular favorite, but they love it!

I like your decorations very much - I really wanted to buy bunting this year - those pleated fans - in cotton, and hubby chose the darker 'heritage' colors! The price was over $200 so now I am searching for a pattern and hoping to make at least one!

So far I haven't fouund a pattern, but how hard can it be? Famous last words!

  36. Being British/Japanese, we won't be doing anything for 4th of July. In fact since I've been here in Japan, we have been invited several times to join in with American friends' parties, but I have always felt a bit odd, seeing as its a "Thank Goodness We Got Away From The Brits" sort of event!! Never stopped us attending or having a whale of a time though...

Have a lovely day - hope it's not toooo hot.

  37. I like your rocking chair and all of your 4th of July decorations Kelli. The 4th is one of my favorite holidays. I love fireworks and we live very near where they shoot them off, so we usually go down to the lake and watch them.
    Your banner is really nice!

  38. Oh I have to start thinking about 4th of July! The front of the house looks well decorated, all this summer. :-) But what will be for the Big Day itself?

Family BBQ I'm sure. And I usually make the dessert. Red, White and Blue of course. Have to start looking for new ideas on that theme. I hope I find something new! :-)

  39. I'll be working on the 4th, but not on the 9th, which is a holiday here. I have sweet memories of my first 4th of July in the US, and also from my last, many years apart. Love your decor, the brick fireplace is so beautiful!
