A Fun Evening

Hello everyone! We had a couple and their daughter over last night and enjoyed a dinner and fun evening together. I am slowly getting things back to normal around here and this was the perfect excuse to get caught up on dusting and cleaning. :0)

I gave the front porch a good sweeping and put our pumpkins on the rocking chair. I also tied a bundle of Indian corn to the back of the chair.

Walmart had small pots of Mums for 99 cents so I put two inside this barrel. Hopefully they will last through November!
Flowers

Inside, the candy bucket was full and I made "Boo" goody bags for the neighbor children.

A pot of white chili was simmering away on the stove. (The recipe is on my sidebar.)

Crackers and cheese for the appetizer.

After dinner, we headed out into the neighborhood. It was fun to see all the kids dressed up!

Benjamin was a pirate.

Emily was a cowgirl, here she is sorting her stash!

The neighbors were very generous. Shh...don't tell our dentist!

I'll be back soon for Show and Tell Friday!

  1. Did you change everything on your blog? There is no header. It's just white all over. No usual sidebar things. And... I can't access any photos either.

There are boxes where photos should be. Click on that and was taken to a place where you put your photos. But photo didn't come up there either.

  2. Hi Kelli! Thanks for sharing these Halloween pictures! I can see that the kids had lots of fun - and their mum as well! Your little candy bags look great and I am sure they were highly appreciated by all the ghosts, pirats and cowboys! How many kids came to your door last night? I counted 30 at ours but not all of them were dressed up.

What I have been up do during the last couple of days? Visit me on S&T tomorrow and you'll see! ;-)))

    Best wishes from Germany,
    Anita

  3. Very confusing. I got your whole blog look, for a bit.

Then I got your photos to load. But still no header or side bar things.

Then no word to verify, to comment again.

And now, back to no photos or your usual pretty stuff.

    ?????

    Am I the only one????

    I really don't understand what's going on.

  5. How many little candy bags did you make...they look so cutiesy? We had over 100 kids last night, boy am I glad DH decided it was his turn at the door ringer thing. Chili is the tradition at our home for Halloween night, with plenty of left overs for tonight.

Your blog is awesome, I enjoy it every day.

  14. I remember being able to walk around our neighborhood as a little girl, and having so much fun. It's not safe to do that here since we're not in a neighborhood now.
It looks like the kids had a blast, and I love your decorations. I don't think I've ever seen mums that cheap!

What a special time! Once again, you inspire me in the area of hospitality!
I'm so glad that you and the children had a safe and happy trip. And I know your family was blessed and happy to see all of you!
I do love to go visit other folks, but it seems as though it takes me two weeks to recuperate...AND catch up on laundry...AND unpack suitcases. Ooh, I'm tired just thinkin' about it!
    Hugs,

Your blog looks interesting, but I was surprised to see a post about celebrating halloween, as you are a christian, homeschooled family. It would be interesting to hear your reasons as to why you choose to celebrate this holiday that is obviously very much in contrast to biblical christianity...I do understand that many people don't think this issue out carefully.
    God bless you!

  24. Stephanie, my husband and I *have* thought the issue of Halloween out very carefully. Your statement "obviously very much in contrast to biblical christianity" is a matter of opinion. We are a Christian family whether we trick or treat or not.
