Calendar Envelopes and Notecards
My friend Mrs. T. from Across My Kitchen Table recently shared some envelopes she made from an old calendar, and it reminded me that I had a calendar from last year that I could put to good use.
If you don't have an old calendar many of the bookstores have 2008 calendars drastically marked down right now.
Simply take an envelope apart to use as a pattern.
Trace the envelope pattern on the calendar page and cut out.
Fold the top, bottom and sides. I used a ruler to make the folds straight and tight.
Glue the sides. I placed the envelopes under a heavy book until dry.
Finished envelope
I made medium and small sized envelopes.
For address labels I cut small pieces of matching cardstock. Glue in place.
I was left with lots of scraps and decided to make some matching notecards.
I used different colors of cardstock to make the cards. Cut a length of paper slightly less wide than your envelopes, and fold over into a card.
I kept the cards very simple. I cut out rectangles from the scraps and glued them onto the fronts of the notecards.
You can also use several layers of paper.
Now you will be all ready to send a friend a pretty card to brighten up their winter! Thank you for looking!
Oh Kelli!! CUTE idea!! I love it!! This surely wouldn't take much time and you get such an adorable end result!! Thank you for sharing this!

Hi Kelli! That is such a lovely idea. I wish I had a nice calendar to use so I could try and make some of these up. I'll have to keep my eyes open for one, as I sure would love to make some of these envelopes!

ReplyDeleteI have to stop purging all of my stuff. Apparently all those old calendars would have been useful! Thank you for the idea. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I can't wait to give this a go!
ReplyDeleteKelli, those are just lovely. Great idea for recycling too.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Those are STUNNING!
ReplyDeleteI have a beautiful calendar from last year that I just haven't been able to throw out-now I know that I don't have to!
I hope no one would mind having things written in the inside on the dates, though-because I do write on my calendars!
:-)
Beautiful BEAUTIFUL!
What a cute idea!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet idea! I have been keeping old calendars for years, either to decoupage or frame. One of my favorite framed wall decorations was originally a page from a calendar. I'm so glad to have this new idea for using them!
ReplyDeleteWONDERFUL, WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL!!!!!Thanks so much for sharing this idea. ILOVEIT!!! ps.I think I am going to be out bid on the emabay item---how much do you think it is worth? Any idea. I do know they sell a lot of individual birds so maybe I could make my own? What do you think the value is?
ReplyDeleteI just saw blessedmomof3's comment about not having any old calendars and keeping an eye out for some nice ones: I've seen a lot of nice 2008 calendars at various places for 50% off. Some may be marked down even further.
ReplyDeletewow, so pretty!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful, clever, way to recycle and enjoy a lovely calendar again. So creative!
ReplyDeleteHow cool is that!
ReplyDeleteOh Kelli they are lovely. You did a wonderful job. Here's one more idea if you have an scraps left! Make bookmarks. I did this with the teens that I work with. We used old Christmas cards and mailed them with our Christmas cards to our supporters. We cut the cards up and glued them on colord cardstock. On the back we wrote a verse and "Please pray for Mission Makeove" then we laminated them. The cards and a bookmark would be a nice idea for a school teacher or Sunday School teacher. I will keep eyes open for a pretty calendar! Blessings,Sherry
ReplyDeleteThose are so pretty! Nice idea.
ReplyDeleteHi Kelli!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing this with everyone! The notecards are a splendid idea. I threw my scraps from the envelopes away, but next time I'll know what to do with them! Your envelopes and notecards came out just beautifully.
Wow! What a wonderful idea! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right....sending letters during the winter is a good idea.

ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing! I wonder if my squirmy wormy Sunday School kids could focus long enough to make these???
ReplyDeleteThose are very pretty!
ReplyDeleteKelli, This is beautiful. I'm going to share it with the activities director at Mother's nursing home. I know that she can't do this type of thing any longer, but I do believe that some of the ladies would definitely be able to work with this idea, especially if they have someone who cuts the pieces for them. I also think that groups of these bundled up would make such sweet gifts for the ladies when they have their Red Hat tea party.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad I stopped by your blog today.

Kelli, what a fabulous idea!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a fantastic idea! I am now on a mission to find an old calendar around our house!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea! I've been using old calendar pictures on packaging for sending my Etsy items out to buyers... but this is an even better idea! (since I don't have ALL that many buyers!) Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteAfter a recent surgery I got a lot of beautiful cards. I hated to just discard them, but knew I didn't have room to just hang onto them. So while I was recooperating, I cropped the cards into bookmarks, laminated them, then made a folder with a thank you message for their prayers and cards. I placed the bookmarks into this folder and returned it (by hand) to the person that sent me the card! People were so pleased. Patty
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of glue is best for paper which doesn't leak through the paper?
