Ever since my mom introduced me to The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett when I was 12, I've been
I have several copies of the book, a journal, notecards, three versions of the movie (I only like the one by Hallmark) and I've been learning Nocturne in E minor by Chopin, which is the theme song of the movie, on the piano.
So, when I came across this sweet face in the resale store this afternoon, I immediately thought of the 'The Robin Who Showed The Way.'
I found a little silver dish, laid down some moss, added two small pots, a robin's egg and a rusty key.
It's the perfect spot for a little robin!

What a cute little robin! I love the book as well! I've read several of Burnett's other books, too. I agree about the Hallmark version, though it's been a while since I have watched it.
It is a wonderful story! I love the Hallmark movie version the best, too, although I do own a pretty good old b & w one. I'm looking forward to introducing my daughter to the story.
aw, how cute!!!!
I love the story too. Your little robin is sweet and so is your vignette. Linda
I read the book as a child and still have it somewhere in my "library". I've not seen the film at all though. Whenever my garden gets overgrown, and I am taking out the weeds, I think of that book and how Mary gave the bulbs room to flower free from all the weeds. I love your little robin setting - that is magical.
It is the perfect little spot for the robin! You are one creative lady! This reminds me that spring is right around the corner.
I like his little face, so cute. You made it look so fantastic with the moss and little pots. Perfect!

Adorable! We have had a robin visiting our yard lately. I love little birds and nest decorations.
OOOh I love this story as well and your sweet robin is a perfect reminder of this. My grandchildren insist I watch this over and over with them. It is just the best and so much better then a cartoon story I think and everything about the story is WONDERFUL..thank you for sharing and reminding us of this treasure and thank you for your comments at my blog.
Have a wonderful day and lots of fun. My grandchildren and children arrive today. I cannot wait.

The Robin is pretty sitting in it's new nest.
Funny, I just came across The Secret Garden in my closet a couple of weeks ago. That's one of our favorite stories.
What a precious nest you made for the robin.
Susan
Kelli I dont know if I have ever seen this movie or not. I will keep my eye out. If you like it I know I will. The robin is a cute little fella.
It's beautiful! You are so clever.
Oh Kelli so cute. You are so creative. I know your family does say "There is no place like home" it is beautiful.
I love the Hallmark version too! I too have several copies of the book. I love your "Cheeky little beggar"!
Linda
I think The Secret Garden is just about my favorite girlhood book. There is just something so magcial about a little girl finding a key that leads to a garden...my daugther used to "play" secret garden when she was little.
The little robin you came across is so cute!
Kelli, my children and I love that movie too. Your robin nest makes me long for spring. I can't wait to see a robin! We have 7 inches of new fallen snow!
Kerri
He looks just like him. Spitting image in my mind's eye.
That's adorable! And the literature link makes it too good for words.
really cute, love it!!
That birdy is so cute! I love the garden you created.

There is a cute book at our library that is Secret Garden themed. It is a collection of things to do, poems, bits and pieces of the story, recipes, crafts ~ that all have to do with the book.
I can't remember the name of it, but check out your local library and see if they have it!

A perfect little nest for a robin. Speaking of robins, we have had many visiting us lately so Spring will surely be arriving soon!
That robin has character. I loved the book as well, but have not seen any of the movies. I just put "The Secret Garden" on my list of must sees. Thanks.
How adorable is that? Oh, I just love it! Ugh, I've got spring fever REAL BAD! LOL
Kelli, I love the story of the Secret Garden, too......and I love how you have put those special items on the silver tray the way you did. That is fabulous!! Great job!
Sweet! I like little bird knick-knacks.
I love your little "robin" who came to visit your home. What good ideas on the setting! The book is my of my childrens favorites as well.
What a beautiful vingette. Can you believe I have never seen the movie or read the book! Guess I will put it next on my reading list.

I love The Secret Garden. It is absolutely wonderful and I enjoyed reading it as a little girl as well. I enjoy the movies too - and like the Hallmark more, which my girls already love. It is such a magical story! Have a glorious Thursday!
How cute! I loved the story, but barely remember the movies. Great spring decoration.
My daughter (13 yo) and I just finished reading that book for the very first time last month. I can't tell you how much we loved it. It is so absolutely perfect, everything from the dialogue, to the descriptions of the gardens, it simply transports you there in your mind. And loved, loved, loved the ending. Oh happy tears.
Love your new little bird vignette!

Very clever. Now you have a little bit of spring inside.
Oh wow, I've never read the book or seen the movie....I can't believe it.
I'm going to get ahold of both now, you've got me interested Kelli :)
Hugs,
Sandra
I'm about to start reading that book with my girls since Spring is soon approaching. :)
Oh....I love the robin. What a sweet look on it's face.
I have not read the book or seen the movie, I will have to look into both, this would be a great season to start.....the robin is ADORABLE, that is sheer genius, I love it, you think of everything!!!
Kelly
Your robin is perfect and the nest you made is beautiful. I have always loved that story and have dreamed since I was a little girl of having my very own "secret garden".
This is just darling!
Loved the darling little vignette you've created. Robins always say springtime to me.
You have such a gift for creating charming decorations for your home :)

I love The Secret Garden, too. I was just thinking of sitting down to re-read it again the other day. Haven't done it yet. Your little robin looks so sweet. And I love the vignette you put together. So cute. I need to get busy and get my house ready for Spring! ~Adrienne~
Before I even read your last line I was thinking that your vignette is absolutely PERFECT!
Sometimes I chance upon such great finds at resale or thrift shops. Last time I was there I found a great little dog statuette for my collection.
I love the Secret Garden too, even though I didn't learn about it until I was a teenager.
Julie
That bit of green has inspiration written all over it! Isn't it a lovely feeling? Lets us create the most amazing things!
I loved the movie and enjoyed the book very much!
Very Sweet, Kelli. I love that book, too. I have always longed to create a small enclosed garden. a surprise package for guests to open. :-) Rosie
Oh Kelli, I just love the little robin display you made...you always leave me in awe with your ideas:-) I bought the dvd The Secret Garden (Hallmark version) last summer and I so enjoyed it!! xox
That little robin is adorable and I love your little vignette. The Secret Garden is one of my oldest daughter's favorites. I just love birds of any variety. And gardens, of course.
I was worried that you'd be upset over it...I'm so happy that you aren't. You can join in with me on my new venture if you want...Let me know okay.
Nancy
The Secret Garden is one of my all time favourite books! I love your robin and nest! :)
Kelli, I have read this book numerous times. I love the way it starts out bleak and sad and dark and the characters bloom just like the garden. It is really an amazing book. I liked your photographs! Jennifer
Your little vignette is so pretty Kelli - you certainly have a special touch for bringing beauty to your home!
I have loved The Secret Garden - mum gave our Dreamer a cd set with the story and every time she listens to it, I find myself curling up in her bed beside her listening right along!
We saw our first 'live' robin this week, so spring MUST be close! He was all puffed up and quite indignant looking - as though the cold temperatures were not to his liking! I may be a transplanted Canadian, but I had to agree - enough of winter already!
What a beautiful vignette of The Secret Garden! You do wonderful creations! I have a doll that looks just like the little girl in the Hallmark movie. Someday I'll have to show her.
Katherine
One of my favorites! I have quite a few copies plus a number of different movie versions.
The Robin, I believe the line is, " Cheeky little beggar."
I have not read the Secret Garden but I will now! Thank you for sharing your wonderful world!
You have such neat ideas all the time. I would of seen that Robin and just thought it was a robin. But you take it, and make something wonderful out of it. :)
My mom read me The Secret Garden when I was a girl. I liked the story too, but it was kind of depressing to start off with. :)
I also enjoy the movie. I can't remember which version I saw of it though.
That's been one of my favourite books since I was a kid. And I really love "A Little Princess."
I just love the little Robin !!! The plate looks lovely !!
