Hello! I hope you all had a great weekend. We got a lot accomplished around the yard on Saturday, then had a relaxing Sunday.
Katie has a wonderful blog called Harrington House, and she recently shared some of the ways she uses baskets around her house, so I thought I would copy her. :0)
This basket of ivy is on the top of my bedroom writing desk.
A small basket overflowing with tea boxes in the kitchen.
Bread basket.
Favorite gardening books on our back patio.
I love magazines and I like to keep a basketful under my living room end table. Right now I'm reading various past spring issues.
I also use a basket in my laundry room for storing tablecloths, but as you can see, it was a huge mess. I was very happy to read Katie's post on how she solves this problem.
I re-folded all the tablecloths.
Then rolled them up! Hopefully they will stay like that for awhile. Thank you for the inspiration, Katie!
I would love to hear the different ways you use baskets around your house!
I have always enjoyed baskets, they have served many purposes in my life. It is fun to gather things that someone would enjoy and make a gift out of it. I grow Lavender, I love to fill baskets with fresh Lavender.
ReplyDeleteFresh bread looks pretty in a basket with a little fabric under it. I really like what you do with baskets. Love the pictures,
Hugs, Mary
Great idea for a post! I am a basket fanatic. That same basket you have for your tea, I have in my bedroom with hair stuff in it. One sits on the kitchen table with napkins. A couple in the den/office to corral school supplies. One in the laundry room for socks temporarily missing their matches...another couple in the laundry room for assorted scrub brushes, a couple on the mantle just for decoration, a huge one in the living room for magazines, I could go on and on. : )
ReplyDeleteI love baskets too and have them all over. I also have the same end tables as you!
ReplyDeleteI saw Katie's post too, and as a basketaholic, I loved it! I also have baskets everywhere- in Honey's closet for toys, as a trash can in the downstairs bathroom, holding books and magazines in the upstairs bathroom, and a picnic basket perched on top of my Hoosier cabinet holding all my tableclothes.
ReplyDeleteOh and I also found a desk caddy basket on clearance at Wal*Mart a few years ago, and that is, of course, on the desk.
Wow :) I just discovered your blog from Janana. I to love baskets. I use a basket as a door holder. I have my bear collection in it. I also hava a white basket that I use to put plants in. I am adding your blog to my list. Off to explore your blog somemore.
ReplyDeleteYou had some neat ideas. I use baskets and I have a round basket that I use to hold the weekly news papers in.
ReplyDeleteLove all your baskets! The big basket with your tablecloths is a great look!
ReplyDeleteI used to have bunches of baskets but finally gave most of them away. I like all your ideas, especially the last one. I've seen people do this in the bathroom with towels also.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip on the ribbon. My local WalMart doesn't have it but I'll keep checking in other ones around the area.
I like baskets too. Hope you weekend was as nice as ours...we had warm temps.
ReplyDeleteThose are lovely ways to store things in baskets! I love baskets, I just never know what to do with them. Now I have ideas. :-)
ReplyDeleteLovely. I learned how to weave baskets a few years ago and made several for gifts. They are so rewarding and therapeudic. Loved it!
ReplyDeleteYours are very pretty, and functional. I need to do a post like this. Thanks for the inspiration Kelli.
I use baskets too!! Ok So I feel good about not being the only one. There for a while I thought I was going to have to invest stock in Laungenburger baskets. lol. Thankfully I found that the local Goodwill sells baskets for really really cheap, and I can add my own special liner to them using pretty hankies.
ReplyDeleteHow organized is that? I don't have nearly enough baskets for all the bits and bobs which need tidying!
ReplyDeleteOh what cute ideas. I love the idea of rolling the table cloths. I also keep old issues of gardening magazines. It helps you to dream! I got a lot done outside too. Hopefully I'll post some photos this week. Have a Blessed week. And thanks for coming over to my Show and Tell.
ReplyDeleteOh, your baskets look so lovely! They are just so pretty and so functional. It is so rare that I come home from a junkin' venture that I DON'T have a basket with me. I love them all, but particularly the one holding your bread...I love that basket's shape! Have a great day! :o)
ReplyDeleteKelli I really appreciate this post. Baskets are wonderful accessories, but are so useful too. I have a lot of baskets. I used to make them and have constructed them from 3" in diameter to a full-size hamper. Of course I only have 2 of my own hand made ones left. One is my very first attempt. It is strong and beautiful, though a little crooked :)
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of rolling your tablecloths and storing them like that.
Nancy
love this post...thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSome great ideas Kelly. I am trying to incorporate some baskets into my pantry. I am always on the lookout for baskets when I go to the thrift store!
ReplyDeleteI love Katie's blog! I go there often!!! :) She has such beautiful ideas and an adorable daughter! :) I love baskets as well and love how you have shown how you use them as well!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI am also a sucker for baskets. I seem to buy them everytime I go thrifting. Great way to use them!
ReplyDeleteLinda
You always have such great ideas and lovely touches in your decorating.
ReplyDeleteTammy
I loved the idea about using the basket for your tablecloths. I was just cleaning out the drawers in my china cabinet and took out my tablecloths. Right now they are sitting on top of the freezer waiting for some kind of home. :)
ReplyDeleteKelli,
ReplyDeleteAnother basket lover here! I keep my onions and garlic in a sweet little basket on my counter. It looks so country-fied! :)
Blessings,
Gina
I love baskets!!!!! I use them everywhere for storage. I think some of the best ones for home are open, oval or rectangular, with no handles. I love handled ones for gift giving.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of baskets.when I was a realestate agent our off used baskets to hold the paper towels and all the in box stuff.
ReplyDeleteI've never really had room in my master bathroom to do this, but the bed and breakfast we stayed in during our honeymoon kept rolls of toilet paper in a beautiful honey-colored basket.
ReplyDeleteOh BOY!!..I will have to get back to you on this Kelli--I use baskets for EVERTYTHING...LOL:) I love this post--it makes me want to oragnaize my baskets...:)
ReplyDeleteJulieann
Great ideas!!! The tablecloths look perfect!
ReplyDeleteWhat great ideas! I love basket's too! I just bought one yesterday for my extra Bible study books. That is a great idea for the tablecloths!

I like baskets. Your uses were all very practical! Thanks for the ideas!
ReplyDeleteI love all of your ideas. I also love Katie's blog - she's a Georgia girl like me!
ReplyDeleteI especially like the rolled up tablecloths. They look so pretty in the basket - like a decoration instead of storage.
We use a lot of baskets around our house too. A whole bunch of them have been relegated to the garage. I like the way you have displayed your baskets.
ReplyDeleteI love your basket ideas! They are great! I use a small white basket that is on my wall. I put all my letters in there and it's by my desk so the letters are close to my writing desk. Anyway, I enjoyed your pictures!! Thanks for sharing. :) *hugs* Have a blessed day!
ReplyDeleteThis was a fun post ... probably 'cause I love baskets! :o) We use baskets to store school books ~ handy to cart around the house or grab to take with us when we're on the run.
ReplyDeleteI love baskets and have them all over the house. What would we ever do without them for storage?
ReplyDeleteKelli - I love your basket uses! We do similar things with books and magazines! I am a 'basket case' too! Baskets in our home hold cloth napkins, library books (dedicated so they don't get mixed in with our collection), make up, hair elastics/bows/clips, jar candles, dry erase markers, and even rags! They are so pretty and practical! My favorite combination of the best of both worlds!
ReplyDeleteThank you Kelli for your kind visit and comment. I came by to thank you and seen this entry. I LOVE baskets too and would like to share with you how I use mine. I will do this next week as this one is quite full until Monday! Also, you are more than welcome to share your "daybook" with my readers!
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Love all the ideas...I too am a "basket case"....I like using one , that has my Bible notebook, Christian book or study I am reading pens and even sometime notecards..it is pink and is in my lovely room
ReplyDeleteDeby
btw...we have a shelf in our living room with a basket that hides our Wii games and accessories in it
Great photos of ways to use baskets! I use them for everything, and the ones I can't think of ways to use, usually get hung or displayed somewhere to just simply look pretty!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Janice
That is really neat how they all rolled up and fit! Beautifully done.
ReplyDeleteJenn
Hmmm... I think I will pull my tea boxes out of the cabinet and put them in a basket.
ReplyDeleteOh, I just love the rolled tablecloths. I will have to try this.
Love the idea for the tableclothes. I'll have to try that with blankets!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed seeing how you use baskets. Right now I use a white basket in my bathroom to hold rolled up washcloths in the bathroom colors.
ReplyDeleteIn a couple places I lived I put baskets on one kitchen wall which was covered in coordinating blue and white fabric.
Wow, so many baskets! I especially like the idea of rolling up your table cloths! I do this with some of my fabrics in my creative space, too. I should take a photo soon.... ;-)))
ReplyDeleteGood ideas!! I keep my knitting yarn and needles in a basket beside my rocking chair in the family room.
