Show and Tell Friday!
Welcome to “Show and Tell Friday!” Do you have something special to share with us? It could be a trinket from grade school, a piece of jewelry, or a treasured collection. Look around your home for something to share; dig through those boxes in your closet if you have to! Share photos and the story that goes with your special item.
I have two treasures to show you today. They were both given to me by my Great-Grandma. I was still very young when she passed away, so I don't remember her very well, but I do have memories of visiting her at her nursing home quite often.
This is a small devotional book for Mothers. I didn't appreciate this book growing up, but I'm glad I hung onto it, now that I have children of my own.
Several of my signatures on the inside cover. Maybe I was practicing?
I received this book in 1982.
I was six years old.
My Great-Grandma left me this tiny heart necklace and I have kept it safe in my jewelry box for many years.
The gold has tarnished in spots, but I think it is still sweet. Thank you for looking at my show and tell and have a wonderful weekend!
~*~*~Show and Tell idea for next week: Something you got on a trip.~*~*~

These are very special treasures
ReplyDeleteyou have shown us today. There's
nothing as special as a gift from someone in our family who came before us! (Hugs) :)
great memories to go along with these items!
ReplyDeleteOh, these childhood treasures are wonderful, how great that you still keep them! And what a sweet little girl you were at the age of six! ;-))
ReplyDeleteWe almost had 10 days in a row with nothing but sunshine! I just got up and today it's cloudy and rainy. Do you know this quote: "Good made rainy days so that gardeners could get their homework done"?
Have a great week-end!
XoX, Anita
I love your special treasures, Kelli. I'm also showing a special book given to me by my great-aunt. Thanks for hosting this each week. It's so much fun!!
ReplyDeleteThanks again for you interesting every week party.
ReplyDeleteThose are both so sweet! I love the book and your handwriting practices, and I am sure the book has a lot of wisdom in it. And that heart necklace is just cute as can be. And it is neat that they came from your great-grandmother.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting this every week! It's one of my most enjoyable weekly memes.
Hi Kelli,
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie pie at age 6! How you must treasure that locket and book. I think that they will be wonderful heirlooms to pass to your children someday.
As always, thanks for hosting!
xo
You look like the type of little girl who was very well behaved. :-) I thought the part about your name was cute! Isn't childish handwriting sweet?
ReplyDeleteSo precious...what great things passed down to you from your g-grandmother. And what a sweet picture of you!
ReplyDelete(Except I can't get over how young you are...just 6 in '82! That means you're a bicentennial baby!) :)
You have some nice things to remember your grandma with. You are so adorable in that picture. It's so nice that you did hang onto that journal. Happy show and tell, Kathi
ReplyDeleteHi Kelli!
ReplyDeleteFirst, darling photo of you as a young girl. From your avatar, you certainly age well. ::smile::
I particularly like the heart necklace, that's something to hand down to a family member. It's funny how we always 'marked' our books when we were toddlers isn't it. I've done the same thing.
Great Show n Tell as always. I really look forward to yours each and every Friday!!
[by the way, I don't have permalinks anymore since I took out the timestamp after Blogger started the 'pre scheduled' ditty.]
And my SnT is Native American jewelry this week. And I ended by doing a book review too...so scroll down for commenting.
Happy Weekend to you ---and to all.
Fun post, as usual!!!
ReplyDelete...sweet little face...

Sweet Memories, Kelli! My kids have a book from my mother. None of them can remember her as she died very young, when Nita was a baby. But having the book, knowing that she chose it for them is a real blessing.

There is magic in having things from our family handed down to us, they leave apart of themselves because it reminds you of them.
