Hot July brings cooling showers,
Apricots and gillyflowers.
-Sara Coleridge
Happy July! It's a beautiful summer morning here in Texas. Emily's sunflower is just beginning to open.
My thyme has gone a little wild and has plenty of pretty flowers.
Speaking of wild things, I haven't weeded my gardens in about a month. I'm off to work before it gets too hot.
Give a weed an inch and it will take a yard.

Beautiful blog!!!! I'll definitely visit again!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelli...I need to weed too:). They sure want to take over.
ReplyDeleteWonderful 4th of July decorations....I love your runner and the jars and spraklers from straws are neat.
Hope you getting the weeding done before it gets too hot. Hugs, Linda
p.s. I love your wedding picture...this is my first time to see it...you are a darling couple. L.
I haven't been out weeding lately. The mosquitoes have been so bad.
ReplyDeleteThe sunflower looks pretty as it is opening up.
Ugghhh - I worked on my gardens this last week. Weeding is so much harder in the heat!
ReplyDeleteKelli, you are welcome at my house for weeding anytime! :)
ReplyDeleteI weed all the time, but it just doesn't help. I am hoping to get outside this long weekend and get some newspaper down to help.
Your flowers are lovely! I'm hoping to get some photos of my lillies and tomatoes. I just love the look of lillies and only wish they bloomed longer.
I just did quite a bit of weeding two weeks ago and noticed that things are already getting wild around the garden again. I guess I know how I'll be spending my 4th of July. LOL
ReplyDeleteI love to watch the process of a sunflower unfolding its beauty.
I love the beautiful pitcher filled with thyme and the hankie that lies underneath. So lovely!
ReplyDeleteYay! Sunflowers!
ReplyDeleteHey, that little round-leafed plant that splays out and has sort of thick leaves, in the upper right section of your weed photo? Did you know it's good to eat. Lots of vitamin C. I like to rinse and chop it into a salad. It has a very nice flavor, too.
It's called 'purslane'. Maybe you already knew that. I just can't help myself sharing stuff like that.
I even cultivated some purslane last year in my herb patch. It got really big.

It seems that weeds grow faster than you can pull them. :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the sunflower photo - sunflowers always make me smile :)
ReplyDeleteHave fun! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are so fresh and pretty. What a treat to see.
ReplyDeleteI've posted pictures of some of my 4th of July decorations. :)
What a beautiful sunflower photo. Love your 4th July decorations too, one day I'm going to try and be in the US for this. Have fun.
ReplyDeleteHi Kelli,
ReplyDeletePretty pictures of the flowers. I love the quote about weeds. So true!
I can only hope there will be cooling showers!!!
ReplyDeleteKelli, if I lived closer I'd drop by to sweep away some thyme! Do you know what kind that is? it's so beautiful, we are so behind in MN this year, I have a small bunch that looks very sad :(...
ReplyDeleteGorgeous flowers...
ReplyDeleteAnd I love your 4th of July decor, too! :)
Today's my oldest's 9th birthday...I know yours just had her 9th birthday this past week, too...so glad their still little girls for just a bit longer!
OOOh my gosh!!!Your photographs are remarkable...it almost like being able to see the sunflower unfold. I love the 4th door hanger. You have a lovely blog.
ReplyDeleteHave a great 4th of JULY.
Pat
They absolutely will take over, won't they?!
ReplyDeleteI love your decorations for the holiday, too. The runner is very cute!
Loved your saying about the weeds -- so true!
ReplyDeleteWow. Your holiday decorations look great. The sparlers are such a great idea.
I've never seen thyme with flowers like that--lovely in the pitcher!
ReplyDeleteI weeded today too Ugh!
Hi Kelli and thank you for popping in to see me. Oh, your pictures of your flowers are absolutely gorgeous! Thank you for the welcome to the month of July! Drink plenty of water while you're weeding...it's hot out there!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful evening.
Shelia ;)
Hi Kelli -
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are gorgeous. And your weeds don't look too bad, either. You should see the huge weeds my sweetheart and I pulled this evening from a too-long-neglected flower bed. One pull and half the bed was freed of weeds! The trailing, viney kind.
Thanks for stopping by my blog and for leaving your sweet comments. I'm glad you enjoyed seeing the pictures of our fire pit and patio lights. Yes, I'm sure we will spend a lot of time there and enjoy every minute.
Blessings,
~Adrienne~
I can relate completely about the weeds in the garden. Mine have taken over! Love the thyme and the sunflower.
ReplyDeleteBlessings

I love the thyme flowers! I let my cilantro go to flowers and it is the loveliest thing in my garden.
ReplyDeleteJenn
I really liked the quote at the end of your post about a weed taking a yard! How true.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Jessica
Oh kelli, I am never disappointed when I come to your blog. The sunflower is amazing. Mine are quite tall and woody but no flower quite yet! How exciting!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour menu looks fabulous and I hope you have a wonderful and memorable holiday weekend.

Jenn
