Monday Morning Snickerdoodles
Good morning! The girls and I are on our way to visit a retirement home with our Faith Keeper's group. Some of the girls are going to sing songs, play the piano, or recite a poem. Everyone is also bringing a treat to share, so we made snickerdoodles.
Snickerdoodles
1 cup butter
1 1/2 cups white sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons white sugar
4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1. Preheat oven to 375F.
2. In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar together. Add eggs and vanilla.
3. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt. Add to the creamed mixture and blend well.
4. In a small bowl, stir together the 4 tablespoons of sugar, and the cinnamon. Roll dough into walnut sized balls, then roll in the cinnamon sugar. Place cookies on lightly greased cookie sheet, two inches apart. Flatten slightly with bottom of glass.
5. Bake for 6-8 minutes. Edges should be slightly brown. Cool on wire rack.
Have a wonderful start to your week. I'll be back soon with some Easter decorations.
Wow those look yummy! They are one of my favorite cookies. What a neat activity for your girls to participate in. Blessing to you! Elena

Those look yummy;-) What a wonderful thing you and your girls are doing in visiting a retirement home. Our homeschool group does this sometimes and the residents are always so thrilled to see all of the kids. You can tell that it really lifts their spirits.
ReplyDeleteHave a good time;-)
Blessings,
Mary Anne
That is good for you to take your children to the nursing home. I think it is good for kids to relate to the older people. That way they're not just learning to related to peers but they know how to communicate with various people. We sing and have services at our local rest home once a week. We enjoy it. We make corsages for all the women for Mother's Day. We always try to do something different each year and as cheap and simple as possible since there are 50 to 60 of them. Last year Julie did cards instead. I would like to make a quilt fabric flower. Can you think of a simple pattern I could go by?
ReplyDeleteThey look great!
ReplyDeleteBetter still is the investment you're making in taking the girls to the nursing home!
What a wonderful thing for the girls to do! I have so many memories of visiting nursing and retirement homes.
ReplyDeleteBut it is far too tempting to pregnant ladies to post cookie photos in the morning. :)

Hi Kelli! I bet when you and the girls got home from your visit to the seniors you had a feeling of being greatly blessed. Next time you go you should take Daisy....if possible. The people in the homes love to pet the dogs.

wow, a nice easy recipe for a lovely looking cookie! Thank you, Kelli!
ReplyDeleteThose are my hubby's fave cookies and for some reason I just never make them. I think it's the extra time it takes to dip them in sugar or something... or I'm just lazy and only make quick and easy recipes :)
ReplyDeleteI love snickerdoodles and I wish I had one of your cookies right now. How sweet that your girls take the time to bring some sunshine to someone in a retirement home. You should be so proud of those girls.
ReplyDeleteJoyce

ReplyDeleteI blogged my snickerdoodles after you... since your pictures made me want to treat our family with this cookie! They all thank you! (linked you in my blog too) Bless your week.
ReplyDeleteI used to do that with our old church. It was such a blessing to be a blessing!
ReplyDeleteI know our church now has a nursing home ministry but it's at night time, around supper. I probably should try to go.
