Decorations for Winter

After all the Christmas decorations had been put away I had a few bare spots around the house. I did some re-arranging of candles, knick-knacks, etc. but I also bought a few new things for my entryway.

I was all set to get some kind of floral arrangment for the table when I saw these pretty stacking boxes. Grace and Emily talked me into getting them. ;0)

I also found a metal envelope holder that I'm going to use for out going mail. The little plate holds antique Victorian calling cards that my friend, Kimberly sent me.

Last fall, I moved my ficus tree to the other side of my hutch. I had an Autumn and Christmas picture for that spot but now that the holidays were over I needed a new picture of some kind.

I got an herb calendar last week but I'm not sure if I like it there or not. What do you think?

Here is a closeup of January's picture.

I use these candles year round and just change out the decorative rings. For Christmas I had made tiny wreaths for the backs of my dining chairs from this white and gold bead garland. I re-used two of them for these candles.

My fireplace is back to normal but I did add my cinnamon stick candles from Christmas and a simple basket of pinecones on the hearth.

The windowsills on both sides of the fireplace have small amber candles that make the room cozy at night.

  2. Kelli, I LOVE all your winter decorations, especially all the candles (great shots), your fireplace and last but not least the big wreath you put at your mirrow! What is it made of? Moss?

Hey, your calender looks great as well, why are you worring about it?

Since yesterday, our home is Christmas-free as well.... :-))

What an inspiration to chase away the winter doldrums! I particularly love your entry table, especially how you have special places set up for ingoing and outgoing mail. Practical and beautiful too! Fireplace is just gorgeous and looks like the perfect place to warm up on a cold night.

  5. I always love to see how you decorate your home and I think your winter decorations are absolutely beautiful. I always get so many ideas from you:-) Like you, I always just change the rings around my candles for whatever season or holiday it is. It all looks so cozy, Kelli, and as for the calendar, have you ever thought of getting one of those wooden framed calendar holders? That would look nice to put your calendar in, exactly where it's hanging now!! Hugs xox

  12. Kelli - you're an inspiration! I need to get busy and fill in the bare spots around our home! I went to a 'new home blessing' for the first time in my life yesterday and it was so inspiring too - my new friend has a wonderful way with color and decor! My home is quiet and shy, like me, but I think a few bits of color here and there would be just the thing ... now to convince hubby!

  13. Kelli, your home looks lovely...very warm and inviting! I love the stacked boxes that Emily and Grace helped pick out. Your tapestry candles with the white and gold bead garland you used to decorate them is simple and elegant! I also have to compliment you on your window treatments! Cute!

  15. Cozy and very relaxed! Nice interiors.

I suggest you enhance the look of your ceiling as well. It might be an unused space in the room but once you decorate it, it would bring out the beauty of the space. You can hang lamps,
wind spinner, or gazing balls to add to the cozy effect.
