Today I want to share an idea for a winter centerpiece. My mom got me this Marjolein Bastin calendar for Christmas and I was inspired by the January picture. Marjolein is one of my favorite artists and does beautiful work.
Here is my version of her winter basket.
I lined the basket with ivy and filled it with apples, pinecones and mixed nuts and berries.
I also added a red bow to one of the handles.
The house always looks so bare after putting the Christmas decorations away, this helps to cheer things up again! Thank you for looking!
Looks so nice Kelli. We have put out a variety of pink candles and a big clear cylindrical vase with a branch of forsythia that is budding. It's hard to know which way to go at this time of year. You gotta do something!

Oh I LOVE it. I hated the drab look when I took all my stuff down also. That piece great. Don't tell her,but I like yours better.

How pretty! And I started making my own calendar envelopes today. We are going to use them for Valentine's Day cards

ReplyDeleteI'm glad you took the time to tell us about this centerpiece. I noticed it in the background of your table setting in your previous post (Gracie's cooking) and I thought it was striking. I've been trying to find just the right thing for my table and this is a great idea.

I agree, her art work is beautiful. I have several items of hers that I've received as gifts and picked up at garage sales, and I frame her cards because they are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteKelli, that is so pretty! I wouldn't have thought of a centerpiece like this. I have a candle or fruit on my table during the winter, but I like your idea better.

ReplyDeleteOh it is lovely. And edible too! Someday soon when I get the camera fixed I'll have to post belated show and tells. A couple of years ago I found these really cute tall red vases (I think) at Big Lots of all places. They have cute Chirstmas trees on one side. I put them on the fireplace. Then when I took down all the other things I turned them around with the trees facing the fireplace and added red candles sticks with chunky white candles and some other white stuff and left it all up through Feb. I also had saved a red berry wreath and replaced the Christmas one with it hanging from a mirror over the fireplace. Are you going to use the calendar for cards next year?
