Happy 14th Birthday Grace!

Today is Grace's 14th birthday! She had her weekly Writing and Science classes and then I took her out for a special lunch and to get her make-up done at Macys. Since she is allowed to wear it now, we then went to Target to stock up on some less expensive items.

She opened a few gifts later this afternoon and now is hanging out with a friend and looking forward to a rare mid-week sleepover.

She's not a huge fan of cupcakes, so we got her some chocolate covered strawberries instead. Tonight we'll eat dinner at Macaroni Grill, which has been a family tradition for many years.

It's been a wonderful day so far and I'm looking forward to her 14th year. So far, this teenager thing isn't as scary as I thought it would be!

I heard horror stories of the teenage years but I enjoyed them with both my kids (especially my daughter since we could share the girlie things). :)

I had more difficulties in their pre-teen years!

Your daughter is beautiful.

What a beautiful young lady she is. Keep her close to you and talk about everything with her and she won't have to be a scary teenager. It was a lovely idea to get her makeup done - great fun!

I love your blog! I'm a homeschool mom and my oldest girl also just turned 14 in Dec. We do make up at 14 as well and did the clinique counter since she has sensitive skin. I can hardly believe my daughter is 14! Where has the time gone. Thanks for sharing such a pretty blog!

Happy Birthday to Grace! Wow, 14 already.

An older lady told me when mine were little not to dread the teen years, not to "expect" the rebellion the world teaches is "normal." She was so right. My third and youngest son is now 18, and it has been a joy to continue to have a good (though different and changing) relationship with them as they became young adults. I have to admit I do miss the little guys there were sometimes, though!

Wow, Kelli, your daughter is beautiful!!!

Just spend a lot of time talking to her and being with her and the teenage years will not be scary. And be reasonably strict especially with the curfew and the other weird things teenagers want to do. My daughter hated the curfew but now that she is 24 she tells me she is glad I did that. My daughter is glad that I did not allow her to pierce her navel or anything else. Or get tattoos.

Happy Birthday, Grace!

Kelli, I echo what others have said. I too heard horror stories about the teen years, but they were not scary at all. What a beautiful young lady Grace is!

What a lovely young lady! (She looks like you.)
I love my boys dearly, but I would not have complained to have a daughter.
She is a treasure and a joy!
Happy Birthday, Grace!
