Springtime in Texas

Springtime has definitely arrived here in Texas. As you can see, our Bradford Pear tree blossomed this week!

It's covered with these pretty flowers...

Also growing like crazy, is the ivy in my backyard. I brought some of it inside and put together this arrangment. I took a painted flower pot, put a cereal bowl inside and filled it with water and then floral moss. I gently bent the ivy branches into an oval and tucked the ends into the bowl of water and moss.

Hidden among the moss is a small birds nest and egg.

This nest happens to be a real Mourning Dove nest. It was built on top of our internet cable box out by our back patio. It was a home for two baby birds and we had lots of fun watching them grow up. Last fall, the box needed to be replaced, so I had the repair man gently take down the nest for me to keep. The eggs aren't real. ;0)

Nests and eggs seem to be my spring theme this year...here is the spring wreath I made for my front door. I took a grapevine wreath and wrapped ivy around it.

Nestled in the soft moss, a bluebird sits on her nest of eggs.

Uncle Stephen went home this morning. Everyone is feeling sad so we are trying to keep busy. Today, the bedrooms got a deep cleaning and tomorrow we are going to the garden center.

Thank you for looking at my springtime decorations!

You did a great job on your wreath. I really like the bird's nest on it. I love the blossoms on your tree too. My neighbor had the same type of tree and I must admit I have been a little envious that it isn't in my backyard.

Have a great evening!

Hi there, I'm Karen from Kindred Haven's daughter, Christie. I'm new to this blogging network, but I took a little time to look around your blog tonight and really enjoyed it. I too, love your decorations. Definately gave me a case of spring fever. I will for sure be visiting again soon!

How pretty! We're kind of into birds at our house this year, too. Your little nests and eggs and so cute. And I really like the way you used your ivy -- potted and on the wreath. Very pretty, Kelli. Spring must be just around the corner! :o)

The signs of spring are welcome. Your 'picnic' sounds so nice. The ivy is so pretty. I am partial to ivy. The wreath on the door says "welcome". If I were in Texas, I would certainly come to ring your doorbell and say, "Hello, Kelli!" :)

I love Bradford pears. We are going to plant some here.

That is the neatest idea with the real bird nest. I would have never thought of that. I will have to keep my eyes open for any unused nests.

I just absolutely adore your ivy arrangement with the nest! It is SO precious!

Happy SPRING!

There are no springtime signs yet in Indiana, but your pictures give me hope for the future! Thank you.

So not fair! I want blooms and growing things instead of sleet and mud!

I keep telling Joe we need to move back south where winter is more civilized! LOL
Terri
P.S. The wreath is very pretty too.

Spring! I'm so envious because we are still buried under snow with freezing temperatures. I can't wait for the weather to change and for the newness of spring to show itself around here.

Happy Spring, Kelli!

Seeing these beautiful photos reminds me to ask you what type of camera you have. (I meant to ask you some time ago.) The photos you take turn out so well. :-)

Your springtime wreath is so pretty. Reading your blog, and Morning Ramble's as well, I'm beginning to think that I'd really like to see Texas. Previously I've thought of it as one big cattle ranch with a 'South Fork' ranch house here and there:) There's obviously a lot more to it than that.

Your so lucky to have spring weather and trees in blossoms already Kelli! I love the wreath with the bluebird nest!

Hi Kelli,
Your pear tree with blossoms is gorgeous--what a beautiful picture.
That is so cute your husband takes all the pictures for you--is he into blogging too? My husband sometimes looks over my shoulder and will read certain things if I point them out to him--but he doesn't have too much interest in my blog (LOL)

Have a great day Kelli--and I enjoyed your post very much:)

Hi Kelli,
I just wanted to come over and say Hi. I love Spring time. Some things have started to bloom here, but not a lot yet. By the way, I love your top display picture, kind of looks like Thomas Kinkade, he is my favorite artist. If you have some time you can come over and visit my site.

Does your pear tree have aroma with those blooms? It's lovely.

And, of course, I love your little bluebird in the nest. Bluebirds are my FAVORITE!
