Grace's Summertime Fun

I have a guest blogger today! My daughter, Grace (9 yrs. old) would like to share with you a fun summertime craft and a yummy treat that she made for us this afternoon.

The first thing I want to show you is my new bubble machine. It's quick and easy to make.

You will need:
-A plastic tub with a lid (I used a small Philadelphia cream cheese tub)
-A flexi-straw
-Hole punch
-Liquid dish soap

Punch a hole in the top edge of the plastic tub. Slide the straw in the hole, flexi end first.

Put a squirt of liquid dish soap inside. Fill the tub halfway full of water.

Punch a hole on top of the lid, put the lid on with the hole facing the opposite side of the straw.

Make sure the lid is on tight and blow through the straw. Have fun!

Now it's time for a snack!

Can you guess what it is?

Melt 3 tablespoons of butter in large saucepan over low heat.

Add about 40 large marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat. Make sure you rest your arm after all that stirring. :o)

Add 6 cups of rice krispie cereal. Stir until well coated.

Using a buttered spatula (or fingers!) press mixture evenly into a 9X13 pan coated with cooking spray.

Cut into squares when cool.

I ate mine in a few seconds!

Do you like rice krispie treats?

I love Rice Krispie treats, Grace! And you did a great job showing us how to make them. I actually have a church cook book that has that recipe in it because it was the pastor's favorite treat. Isn't that funny?

Here I am, about to go to bed, but in these last few quiet moments, I found your blog via someone else, of course... you know how that goes! I didn't want to "lurk," so I thought I'd say "hi," and tell you I really enjoyed these few moments. I am looking forward to returning soon, so I think I'll put your link in my (small) blogroll, if you don't mind. It makes it easy for me to find who I want to visit again! I'm a homeschooling mom of 3, so it was fun to look at your creative ideas.
Goodnight!
Jen

Great projects, Grace! The bubble machine looks fun. What a great idea! I do like Rice Krispy treats (and yours look yummy), but I make mine with peanut butter now, since our family doesn't eat marshmallows since they have gelatin. I have tried to make regular with Marshmallow Fluff (which doesn't have gelatin), but they were SUPER, SUPER sticky!! I'm inspired to try again, though, after seeing your pictures, though.

What a funny bubble game this must be, and another of your clever ideas!

We have this kind of Philadelphia cream cheese over here in Germany, too (same brand) but I've never heard of rice krispie cereals... What a pity!

HI Grace!
I bought the stuff to make those last week, but Jacob ate the bag of marshmellows and we had the Rice Krispies for breakfast a few times! Now that we have a recipe we have no excuse to get the stuff and actually MAKE THEM! :D

Hi Grace~

I love that bubble blower ... so much neater to take outside rather than blowing bubbles in a glass of milk (and overflowing all over the dining room table)! ;o)

And Rice Krispy Treats are a favorite at our house. :o)

PS to Kelli ~ I confessed to my son I'd posted in his name. After he read what I'd said on your blog we were all ROFLOL with tears running down our face! He said when he gets his own computer, I'm not allowed to go online with it. Hmph ~ imagine banning your own momma just because she indicated you liked teacups and invited a woman to tea in your name! Children now-a-days! ;oD
