Weekend Chit~Chat

Good morning! Thank you for stopping by yesterday and for your comments on my wedding treasures show and tell. Several of you asked for a picture of Phillip and I.

Wedding
I shared this one in last year's anniversary post. Phillip refers to his look as "wolf man." ;0)

Roses
Phillip surprised me with these beautiful red roses.

Magazine
I found the latest Victoria when we went on our bookstore date.

Magazine
It's a wonderful issue and I especially love the summer pie pictures and recipes.

Magazine

Coffee
Phillip also gave me a new coffee maker that has a programmable timer. Since I've been up at 6:00am with puppy duty for the last few weeks, it's nice to wake up to an already made pot of coffee.

Daisy
Speaking of the puppy, Daisy is on her second round of medicine for an intestinal problem, but it doesn't seem to be slowing her down at all. She loves her daily swim with Grace.

Geranium
The summer heat has arrived. It was 100F yesterday and will stay around there until late September. Not much is blooming in the garden, although this pink geranium doesn't mind the sun.

Morning Glories
This is supposed to be my Sunflower House, but the morning glories have taken over.

Wisteria
My wisteria is also growing like crazy.

Sunflower
This is a "surprise" Sunflower in Emily's garden.

Sunflower
It's going to bloom any day now.

We don't have any major plans for the weekend. We are having friends over tonight for a cookout. Phillip will grill burgers and I'm making Crash Hot Potatoes, corn on the cob and broccoli salad.

I hope you all have a great weekend!

this was a fun post, Kelli. I love seeing the photos from your wedding. Tell PHillip I was thinking "Beauty and the Beast". :)
Your growing things are doing so well. That heat may be a nuisance, but it's good for the garden.
Love,
Nancy

How neat that you got a sunflower after all! i had about 19 or so sprout from the 30 mammoths I had planted and two weeks or so ago my daughter was doing something nice for me and weeding our walkway, well there went ALL of my sunflowers except for the 5 or so that I saved. :( Oh well..... LOL

I finally got the link to work for the potato recipe. It looks AWESOME! And what a fun writer she is. I don't usually find myself laughing while I read a recipe, but this time I did!

We are supposed to have triple digit heat here for a good spell but hopefully not through September...
We coastal southern Californians aren't used to such warmth...
Lately the humidity has been horrible!

Your garden looks great!
I planted some giant sunflowers among my hollyhocks and they finally are starting to grow~ boy once they start, they REALLy start growing!

Thanks for sharing the pictures Kelly!

Kelli,

I copied the recipe for those potatoes. They look delicious! I bet they would taste good with a bit of paprika as well.

Your garden is growing so nicely. My morning glories are not quite planted yet. The seedlings are doing well in little tiny pots and I will plant them in the real garden soon.

I hope Daisy feels better soon. Hooray for your new coffee maker! Getting up early takes some getting used to. :)

Have a nice weekend.

Victoria is one of my favorite magazines. I'm so glad it's being published again. I agree with you about the pies in the current issue.

Thanks for sharing the wedding photograph. You and hubby are a cute couple.

Kelli,
What a lovely blog you have, I'm one of the girls from Mennonite Girls Can Cook.
I really like the way you gave each recipe it's own page for easy finds. . I just may take that idea over to our blog. .

That is a sweet picture! So cute!

I have tried to grow sunflowers for years, but the bunnies would eat them when they were about 4-5 inches high. Hubby put a fence around them this year and I'm have some success, but I can tell mine are spindly compared to yours. We'll see(I'm sure we're behind the Texas growing season here in Indiana).

Have a great week, Kelli.

Hi Kelli,
That's such a pretty wedding photo. You look just radiant..
Your garden is looking green and lush. That heat sounds kind of uncomfortable.
Enjoy your cookout. I'm off to check out your recipe.

What a great picture of you two! Your garden looks better than ours. We've had heat and humidity for weeks now, and the flowers just couldn't handle it that early in the season. Your wisteria is growing like mad! I plan to add that to our yard next year.
Have a wonderful week-end, Kelli!

Happy Anniversary Kelli, your dress looks wonderful and so does the bouquet !!
Lovely roses you got from Phillip !! That coffeemaker is a great helper so early in the morning too.
Wow it's really hot where you are at. Here in The Netherlands it isn't that hot yet. We are going to the 90's tomorrow though, so Summer is in the making ; )
I sure hope Daisy will be better soon, it's great that she just keeps on going though !!
Have a wonderful day !!

What a cute photo of you two!

That is the same coffee maker my parents bought us for Christmas, and the one that you commented you'd like to have. Glad Phillip caught on to your wishes, and I hope you are enjoying your coffee!

Happy Belated Anniversary :o)

Your summer sounds busy and delightful all at the same time and your puppy is sure a cutie!

About this time of year I frequently say that I *wish* I had planted a few sunflower seeds, but alas, once again, we did not .... yours is huge and gorgeous.

Have a great week!
