Childhood Books~Show and Tell Friday!
Welcome to “Show and Tell Friday!” Do you have something special to share with us? It could be a trinket from grade school, a piece of jewelry, or a treasured collection. Look around your home for something to share; dig through those boxes in your closet if you have to! Share photos and the story that goes with your special item.
I have four special books to share with you today. They belonged to my dad when he was a little boy.
They are filled with wonderful stories and sweet drawings.
Another Thornton W. Burgess book: The Adventures of Chatterer the Red Squirrel
My favorite!
I read this book to the girls and Benjamin a few years ago and we all loved it.
I also want to share a pair of old glasses that I got at an antique store when I visited my family a year ago.
I wonder who wore them and what books they read!
Thank you for taking a look at my show and tell! Have a wonderful weekend!
Please read the Show and Tell Guidelines for step-by-step instructions on how to participate.

I love old children's books. The one was signed Christmas 1962. That was my son's first Christmas. The glasses are interesting. It would be nice to know who wore them and what they read.

Hi Kelli! What an awesome "Show and Tell". I wish I had something from my dad's childhood. You are very lucky. Thanks for sharing. Debbi
What wonderful books. I really love old books, especially children's books. And the eyeglasses are great, too.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful weekend.

I figure your dad may be a little older than me from the dates in the books. I have a nice collection of old children's books and a few of my own Raggedy Ann books. I photographed a few of them for flickr.
I've started up a Sunday share called 'I recommend' which could be anything you like and what to tell us about. Anyone who reads this, please think about my share.
What sweet memories those books hold. I can just imagine these being read outloud to a sweet little boy.
Love those books. How old was your dad in 1961? We might be about the same age...Mimi
Loved the books! What a joy to pass down to your kids, then grandkids!
Susan

The glasses look like the once I have from my father when he was 18 ! So these glasses must date from 1920 !

We read those Burgess books when my daughter was little! We still talk about them as a matter of fact. Love the old reading glasses - it's fun to think about who wore them and what they read.

I have three of the Pooh books also. Mine look different than yours but they are also pretty old. I bought mine at a yard sale my neighbor had when I was a girl. I'll have to look at the copyright date.

Oh, I love old childhood books. I have quite a few. I should really display them, but I would be afraid that my grandchildren who all love books would distroy them. Some are in pretty delicate shape.
It would be cool to know who read them...I love going back in time.
Nice post Kelli! I love old books.
I just adore old books! I have a few around here as well. The glasses, well, what a find those were. I love browsing flea markets and antique stores and myself often wonder what the items must have meant to their previous owner...Great things you shared!
Happy Friday!
I love the books, but I'd be afraid to touch them. Winnie the Pooh is a definate favorite of mine.

Hi Kelly

I love old books, especially the smell! Sometimes I just get one of my old Agatha Christie books out of the bookcase, open it and inhale the lovely old smell. It's like thyme and cigars it almost makes you high *g* And they colour to this lovely colour of yellow browning and to know that my ancestors have turned the very same pages years ago. Makes one very nostalgic :o)
A lovely entry!
Kelli, you have a wonderful heritage in books like that. They are very special! Lori
Kelli, what sweet books! I am a fan of Winnie the Pooh as well. :) Interesting thought on the glasses.

Hi Kelli, Two things #1 I am joining in on show and tell Fridays. YAY! Sounds like fun!! Unfortunately I hit the wrong button and my name appeared on your list without any URL attached to it, so I retyped it with the URL, but now there are two Becky's. Can that be fixed?
#2 I do not understand the Mr. Linky thing at all. Can you give specific intructions on what I am supposed to do? Thank you! Becky
