Rearranging the Dining Room ~ Giving Thanks

Autumn stand
Phillip's mom has been staying at our house while she recovers from surgery. Yesterday, I was telling her how this portable island cart in front of my laundry room door makes me claustophobic.

Dining room
She had the great idea of moving it into the far corner of my dining room, where the tree is.

Kitchen
Much less cluttered now.

Dining Room

Tea corner
It makes the perfect tea cart! We moved the tree into my bedroom and hung a picture that I already had. Thank you for taking a look!

What a sweet daughter-in-law you are to be taking care of your mother-in-law after surgery! And what a sweet mother-in-law to come up with redecorating ideas while recovering! :-) Hope she is feeling better soon.

I really like how the cart looks in the dining room. Isn't it amazing how the whole house can feel different just by moving one little thing?? If you ever need to use that tea cart for more storage you could make a cute little skirt for it to hide the shelves. Then again, the shelves look so festive with pretties displayed on them. Good to have options!

Speaking of shelves, I love the yellow shelves I see mounted on your dining room wall. I love how they are the same color as the wall so that the shelves blend in but the decorations stand out. I also love how you can change out the decor to match the seasons. I'm now going to survey all my walls to see where I can hang two cute shelves. Hmm..... :)

Giving thanks week is loads of fun. Thanks for hosting!

I really like it there Kelli! What a great idea. It always amazes me how one little move of something can change the look of a room. Hopefully things will slow down here a little so I can partake in your fun week of events here. I was planning on it but it has been busy here with paper work and family stuff. Have a wonderful evening.

I love that granma has decorating ideas too ! It does work , and the tea cup stand on it looks gorgeous.
Is the cart raw wood, could you stain it the same as your dresser ? If not I would dress it a little more with a little tablecloth.

I particularly LOVE all the seasonal decorating you do.....and the cost effective way you do it. Just shows good taste and good ideas don't need a price tag !

I have copied a numberof your ideaas and these fabric acorns will probably get copied too !

Fabulous blog, Kelli !!!

Everything looks beautiful, Kelli. I think a fabric skirt or staining it to match your hutch are great ideas.

You continue to amaze me with all you do. Now, you have your mother-in-law there with you. Are you "Wonder Woman" in disguise? HE! HE! Love, Debbi

Youe mother-in-law had a great idea to move your little cart in that area. You are a very nice person to also be taking care of her while she regains her strength. It really looks nice there and geez, how do manage to do all you do? I can barely load the dishwasher and I am tired. Man, I gotta hand it to you. Thx for sharing. I'm tired now:) Take care.

Hi! I followed a link to your site from Lynn's blog. I have that same cart... Ikea, right? I use mine, though, for extra counter space so I couldn't do with it in the dining room, but I love how it looks in yours!

I'll be back to enjoy more of your lovely blog!

Isn't it wonderful how just moving a piece of furniture gives us new opportunities to add charm to our decor...you did a nice job of accessorizing the cart.
