"Show and Tell Friday!"
Welcome to “Show and Tell Friday!” Do you have something special to share with us? It could be a trinket from grade school, a piece of jewelry, or a treasured collection. Look around your home for something to share; dig through those boxes in your closet if you have to! Share photos and the story that goes with your special item.
I have always loved acorns, so today I'm going to show you my small collection.
The girls and Benjamin like to gather acorns from our neighborhood, and give them to me. By Thanksgiving I have a big bowl full!
Here are a couple more acorns in my collection.
If you take the lid off this tiny glass acorn you will see that it is a...
votive candle holder!
This one is my very favorite.
It's a tiny acorn box! The lid says "Blessings are dreams that grow roots."
Lastly, I finished the tea towel that I've been working on. Acorns of course, along with some oak leaves. You can click on the picture to get a close-up.
Thank you for looking at my show and tell!
Show and Tell Guidelines
What is Show and Tell Friday?
Show and Tell involves showing something to an audience, and then telling them about it. Your show and tell must be something that you own, and is in your home or garden.
What items work well for Show and Tell Friday?
Here are a few ideas to get you started:
-Childhood keepsakes
-Family heirlooms
-A collection you may have
-A piece of jewelry
-A special gift
-A favorite treasure
-Gardening pictures
What doesn't work well for Show and Tell Friday?
-Posts with no photos have no "Show." Please don't use them.
-Photos of events (trips, vacations, celebrations, etc.)
-Photos of things you are selling or planning to sell.
-Photos found on the internet, graphics or screenshots. Please use photos you take yourself.
There is no place like home is the original home of Show and Tell Friday. Please do not host your own.
Please do not feel that you have to participate every Friday.
How can I participate?
Once you've got your photo(s) and your story, it's easy as 1-2-3!
1 - Publish your "Show and Tell" on your blog, including a link back to There is No place like Home. If you don’t know the link code, email me and I will send it to you.
2 - Copy the link (or "permalink") from your post.
3 - Add it to Mr. Linky, along with your first name. I usually put Mr. Linky up on Friday at 12:00am Eastern time.
That's it! After that, you can start visiting all the other Show and Tell participants!

I remember walking underneath a gigantic acorn tree when I was a child. I use to admire those little brown cuties.
Your acorns brought back some precious memories of mine. Thanks for sharing! (love the tea towel)
Hi Kelli,
I love your acorn collection. We saw dozens today when we took our walk. Thanks for hosting Show N Tell. It's always fun!

Very cute indeed, your little acrons collection! And well done for the tea towel! By the way, I very much like your A U T U M N - Letters in the background, too! Are they made of wood?
Have a great Friday with lots of interesting S&T's!

Very nice. I love the acorn collection.
I am opting out of Show and Tell this week. Just too much going on! You know I will be back!
I saw the cutest acorns today at Pottery Barn and was thinking how cute would those be! Yours are adorable!
Oh Kelli, you would have loved the acorn I saw at Hallmark today, it was similar to the one you have with the candle in it!! Such a beautiful collection! xox
I LOVE THOSE!
Acorns are the perfect fall deco item and the two you've shown are very nice along with the lovely tea towel.

Now you can say your Nuts about Nuts. I really liked the keepsafe nut the best. Sarah
I love acorns too, I'm fortunate enough to have an oak tree in my garden so I have my own private collection every year - shared with the squirrels of course:) I'll be in the US for a couple of weeks from Monday but hopefully life will slow down enough to join ij with Show and Tell Friday again when I get back. Love Seasonal Delights by the way, the photography is wonderful and very inspiring.
I never would have thought of collecting acorns!
I love the AUTUMN letters. Did you get them at Joann's? They look familiar to me. Did you paint them? Very pretty.
How cool are those?!! Love 'em. Do you have them out year 'round, or just bring them out for Autumn decor?
Mine's posted - this week Gone With The Wind stuff.
Happy Friday.
Love your acorns arranged in the bowl. They look beautiful. Fall is definitely on the way.
Take care,
Connie
Kelli,
I love all of your acorns. The new tea towel is beautiful. It looks like my favorite kind too!
Love the acorns! They always hurt when I stepped on them and now because of you I think I will probably see them in a different way lol. Thanks for coming by my place and come back.
You did such a nice job on the towel, Kelli. I followed your lead and picked up a couple of acorn votive holders at Cracker Barrel last weekend. They were even on sale! :)
Have a blessed weekend,
Mrs. C
First acorn collection I've seen--I am like Rowan--Have tons of acorns surrounding my house--I have all kinds of oak trees including live oaks---it is squirrel heaven here and they get so busy burying them all over the yard!!
So you are an acorn lover eh? Then you surely must have made acorn people, used the 'tops' as cups and bowls, or filled bowls and bowls just to make acorn soup. Probably MANY times in your kids' lives. I have been in mine.
Is that really LARGE acorn in the bowl REAL? I can't hardly believe an acorn could be that large. Right?!
Have a great weekend Kelli!
I have never seen an acorn collection -- how cute and unique! The tea towel is beautiful.
Everything is so cute! I love the tea towel!
I love your acorn collection. Even though I have a bone to pick with acorns. When I was little, I was riding my bike down a hill when an accorn fell off the tree, hit me in the eye and I wrecked and skinned my knee pretty badly!
Haven't had much use for acorns since!
Kelli, thanks for starting this tradition. What a fun collection you have. It's especially nice since the kids can take part in it, as well. Lovely tea towel. :)
Paula
PS - Thanks for clarifying that we don't have to participate every week!
I love your little acorns! What a nice addition they make to your Autumn decorations. :)
I enjoyed looking at these....I'm getting into the autumn holiday feeling.
Beautiful embroidery, Kelli!
And... I have NEVER seen a real acorn! Too cool!!! (I know, simple pleasures.)
What a lovely tea towel! Your acorn collection is so adorable, and how special about your kiddos collecting a bunch for you. :) I love displaying things like that. Have a blessed weekend, Keli!
The little acorn box is my favorite. How precious!
I like your show and tell. Do you want to see what I have today?

Cute tea towel, too!
I love your fall accent pieces! The squirrel is great!
I made a new blogger blog and posted my Friday Show and Tell, but I need help. Please go to my page to see why.
I love your acorns. They talk to me too! I was going to Blog about them sometime this month. They have always fascinated me with their cute little "hats". I really like your hinged box and the cute candle.
Have a great weekend! Sharon
Those are really cute! Unique too :) Thanks for sharing.
Oh, those are the cutest little things!
Michelle
Can I join in? I posted my first show and tell. Thank you.

I like your tiny glass acorn.
Great, I´ve never seen this before. The letter AUTUMN is beautiful. I would like to come again.
Kelli, I love your adorable acorn collection! My favorite is the acorn box too. How charming! Thanks so much for visiting my site and commenting. We have enjoyed our school preparations ~ how about you? It's a delight to share the news of your magazine. Blessings to you!
Very cute acorns! You did a great job on your embroidery. I am a new embroiderer and I love to see others work.
Have a great weekend~
I love acorns too! Late last summer we found an acorn tree near the kids soccer field and we picked up about 300. We did the water test to see if any were worth planting and only 3 were 'sinkers' so we planted them. One came up and is flourishing in a small corner of the garden, but it will be a long time before we have a mighty oak! So much potential in such a wee bundle! By the way we gave the rest to the grey squirrel family and they were very appreciative, I'm sure!
I love your collection Kelli! Perfect to display for autumn!
Oh, I love your acorns, Kelli! The last time we brought acorns into the house, a bunch of little yellow WORMS came out of them!! I think I just need to find ones with candles in them from now on! :)
I love the finished towel!
Cute collection of acorns, Kelli. I'm going to gather some "freebie" ones and display them with my fall decorations.
Have a great weekend!
Love the acorns. And the reminder that it's time to decorate for fall no matter what the temp.
I love your acorns. When I was a little girl I used to collect up all the acorns I could find. I was always so careful to make sure that they each had their little hat. I always felt bad for the ones that did not have it :)
Love all your autumn decorations.
I think I need to go shopping for some new things.
Love your collection of acorns. I was just wondering where I might find real ones for the crafts my class are making.
Oh. I thought I was the only acorn NUT!!
lol. but I see you love them too!!
awesome!
Deena
Love it, they're adorable Kelli :)
Love the acorns, especially the tea towel!
Hi Kelli--what an adorable show and tell--your little acorns are very cute.
I wasn't able to participate this week but I did post a zillion photos today on my blog:))
Have a lovely weekend my friend!
Julieann
I just LOVE all of your Acorn trinkets.
A little story about Acorns...
Last week I was driving around our little town (Elon, NC) and I started noticing that there were acorns everywhere. Not the real kind, but they were drawn on sides of buildings, there's a little cafe called "The Acorn", even our water tower has an acorn painted on the side of it! I'm thinking, this town has a thing for acorns, maybe it's like a mascot of sorts or something.
I decided to research it a little more and found out that when our town was formed, they cut a railroad through the masses of wooded areas of oak trees. A college was built in 1889, and the founders decided to call it "Elon College" because Elon is the Hewbrew word for Oak.
So now that I've bored you to tears... again, I really like your acorns... and they made me smile!
Hope you have a terrific weekend, Kelli!
Kelli, That was so cute. I love acorns too.
Hi Kelli,
Your embroidery turned out very nice, and all of your acorn things are wonderful treasres.
I love acorns too! I can usually find a few little ones under the trees by our old library. A couple of years ago, I collected some teeny tiny ones, that are perfect for crafting little things.
Hey girl! I love your blog and haven't been reading as much lately (busy with school and home, yada, yada). I thought of you and your field trip around the Denton area and thought you might get a kick out of this pic. It was taken in Pilot Point off 455. Hope this link works.
Whining about Texas
I just subscribed to your mag. And by the way, I lived in Beamsville, Ontario when I was a baby. My brother was born there. My blessed father conveniently acquired a teaching job at a Christiain college there during the Vietnam War. LOL
Blessings to you.
Kelli ~ (as you can tell, I'm catching up on blog reading - lol)
I just had to comment on your adorable acorns. My children are always gathering them, too. You'd think I had little squirrels living with me. ;o)
Wow!!!, Sooo many comments. And here is one more: I like acorns too, and I did not know that there are so many people who share my enthusiasm and admiration for those little treasures. I live in South Florida, and we have Live Oaks growing here everywhere. Every year around this time I sketch acorns, and collect them when I travel to the Northern states( acorns and leaves from the oaks growing in cold climate zones are so different). Nice blog!
