Show and Tell Friday!

Welcome to “Show and Tell Friday!” Do you have something special to share with us? It could be a trinket from grade school, a piece of jewelry, or a treasured collection. Look around your home for something to share; dig through those boxes in your closet if you have to! Share photos and the story that goes with your special item.

Dishes and Books
Thank you for the Happy Anniversary wishes! We had a wonderful dinner out and earlier in the day I went to see what treasures I could find at the resale shop.

I brought home two pretty bowls and a plate.

Perfect for a summer snack.

Several old books that I knew Phillip would love.

He will enjoy reading through them.

Commentary on Luke and John.

A small book for missionaries.

And finally, a beautiful hymnal, from the 1940's.

Thank you for looking at my new treasures! Have a wonderful weekend!

Remember, that your Show and Tell needs to be something from your home or garden.
Please read the Show and Tell Guidelines for step-by-step instructions on how to participate.

Great find on the antique books. I'm sure they will make wonderful and informative reading. The Hymnal is a true goodie. I picked up a 1940 hymnal at the thrift shop. Our family isn't in anyway musical inclined, however it has made great read aloud material. It reads like poetry for the soul.

Beautiful china too.

What neat dishes and books! The first book you shared: The commentary 1899 - Revivalist Press, Cincinnati Ohio - My husband and I went to Bible school at the college that published it! (Our first year, was the school's 100 year anniversary.) I actually put in a few hours volunteer time in the Revivalist office! Oswald Chambers taught there for a little while.

Anyway, I'm rambling a bit... it took me a little by surprise! :) Hope you have a great weekend!

It doesn't seem that long ago that I sang from the Broadman Hymnal. I guess that tells me that I'm vintage too!

LOVE the dishes! But . . . I am after all a self proclaimed dishaholic!
The books are outstanding. When you stop to think of how old they are, of how many men and women stood in Church on a Sunday morning and held that hymnal while singing praises to God . . . it just gives me goosebumps.
I will be back next week! This week was just . . . CRAZY!
Have a good weekend.

My favourite comentaries are the ones my late grandfather, a minister, had. When he passed, my mother brought back a bunch of them for me. Such good, solid, grounded teaching.

Kelli - It was fun to see the small book for missionaries, published in Nebraska. Union College is located kind of smack-dab in the middle of Lincoln, NE now, apparently built outside the city limits originally, then annexed into the city. We drive by it sometimes when we're in the city. :o)
