***Updated with new pictures down below!!!***
How do you feel about legos? I'm not liking them so much right
Phillip's sister lives in California and will be visiting us for a few days. Getting these legos cleaned up and Benjamin's room turned into a "guest room" is at the top of my to-do list today!
It sounds like many of you are familiar with legos, especially stepping on them in the middle of the night!
Here are a few "after" pictures. Since really huge messes can be overwhelming for kids, I cleaned up the legos. Gena mentioned using a dustpan and that's exactly what I used!
I also dusted, vacuumed, and put clean sheets and a comforter on the bed.
Benjamin made sure that Aunt Abby will have a teddy bear to sleep with at night.
An embroidered place mat on the night stand.
We are taking a short lego break now. :0)

I am thinking that you never ever have to travel to Lego Land for vacation!LOL
My oldest was cleaning up his Legos once and crawled on one and gouged out his knee! It is his favorite *war story*
I know that you will have everything set up beautiful and refreshing for company!!
Have a wonderful day!
I am still a kid at heart and I love it when I get to play legos with little kids! :) lol.
Good luck getting ready for your company!!
Oh my goodness. You could have your own lego land. Good luck cleaning all of it up. Hopefully the kids will help you and you can get it done a lot faster!
All I can say Kelli is, oh my! Have fun cleaning it all up. Will you show us an "after" photo?
Hi Kelli, I have never posted before but I am a frequent visitor.
I just had to post on this lego picture! My son had just that many legos! When they were all dumped out like that, it was overwhelming for him to pick them up. I usually helped him because it was such an overwhelming mess.
Well, the expression in our house when we have made a mess or have too many things going on at one time and I don't know what to do first is.. "All my legos are out." And my family knows exactly what I mean!
My son is now 30 with a family of his own, and he has used that expression even now, when he starts a project that seems overwhelming. Funny how things stick from when your kids are small.
Have fun with your company!
I'm thinking I dont want to know anything about Legos....LOL!
We have about that many too...lol! Little parts and pieces can be a bit challenging to clean up. I feel the same way about scattered Polly Pocket pieces. They are so tiny and I find them everywhere! Good luck cleaning (giggle)!
OH Kelli!! My feet and back ache for you!!! Have fun with Phillip's sister. :)
Oh, my! Have fun!!
EEEeeeeeccckkkk! Good luck! (We'll all be praying for your safe return from the Land of Lego).
Ah, leggos . . . some of my "fondest" memories of them were created when I would step on one in the middle of the night;o) LOL
I'm sorry, but I'm laughing right now ;0D! I've been there, but our legos were pink and purple. Ahhh, life with little ones.....aren't we blessed????
Oh my feet hurt just thinking of stepping into that in the middle of the night! LOL
Sounds like he and you will be busy today!
A lot of those Lego bricks were once mine! I passed them down to my younger brothers, who added to the collection (and subtracted, of course). And then they passed them back to my son, who has added a few more (and probably subtracted as well). Not quite "three generations," but still pretty cool.
The kids built Star Wars ships and put together a bunch of characters from the trilogy this weekend, which was pretty impressive since we have no actual Star Wars-themed Lego bricks!
i'm so glad my lego days are over. although they were fun to play with (yes, i built things with my son), they were always a pain to clean up. and just like your picture shows, it was usually a huge pile of little pieces.
good luck =]
I loved them as toys for my three boys, but they are a pain to keep together -- and to step on when they miss getting one up. :) We have a bog tub just like that plus many smaller boxes.
We've often had Lego chaos like that here too (both from my children and later from my grandchildren)
Stepping on them in bare feet is the worst. The amusement they provide is the best!!
Have fun with your company!!
I remember the days of legos ~ my boys would have them strewn all over their room! Those I don't miss.
Kelli ~ lol ~ As I'm typing I'm listening to that distinct Lego sound in the background. You know the one where the children rifle through the big containers searching for just that perfect piece? Just this morning I was looking at the Legos strewn across the living room and wondering if I should take a photo to share with Cheryl (Copper's Wife). I see now that you too can relate to that scene. :o)
And I love your new commenter, Patty's phrase, "All my Legos are out." I *so* get it!
Oh, my goodness! I am so laughing my head off right now. This brings back memories of my 3 boys. The worst part was always finding one with my bare foot in the middle of the night :)
Hmmm... I felt the same way about Legos a few years back. No one seemed to play with them anymore and I got rid of them when we moved. now I'm sorry.
Too Funny, Kelli! What a set of legos.
Wowza! I'm looking at all of those Legos and remembering when they were all over my house. Now, my little Lego boy is 19 and living on his own.
Enjoy these days. I must say, though, I don't miss those little pieces (or the bajillion Barbie shoes my girls had!).
P.S. Good luck with the cleaning. A broom and a clean dustpan used as a scoop work wonders.
Yikes! Luckily, we have only had duplos here...much less easier to keep track of! My oldest is past the duplo stage, but we just never got her the tiny ones yet...um, yay! ;)
Looks like my house. My 13 yo son still loves legos. When he can remember, he dumps them out on a blanket. Then they are easy to get back in the box. I have a feeling I'll be sad when I no longer see them lying around! They've been a part of the landscape for many years.
My goodness, that's a mess of legos! lol
I wonder who picked them all up?
That cracked me up.
I was just commenting to Mattie the other day about how all the 'smart toys' are the ones that have the most pieces.
Ever notice that? Educational toys, things that get your creative juices flowing have a gazillion pieces. Examples? Legos! Puzzles! Lincoln Logs! Crayons! :-) Train sets! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I am in a time in my life where the 'legos' we have are the JUMBO sized ones-but I inevitably step on them and there are ALWAYS stragglers in every room of the house. That is what happens with a walking 1 year old. Grrrrrrr.
Then-think about the toys that don't really need brain function to play with. Stuffed animals. One heavenly piece to put away-but what do THEY do? ;-)
Good luck. :-)
I'm speechless! :)
I know they hurt like crazy when you step on them with your bare feet!!! ha ha
I almost have a breakdown every time I see legos! LOL!
Yikes! Are you going to tape that tub shut for a few days after you're done picking them up? :)
Enjoy your company and clean floor!
LOL seeing that picture sure brings back a lot of memories! Both my boys were very much into Legos and I'd find them all over the place...those little suckers hurt when you walk on one, don't they! lol There's still a big box of them the boys left here so I guess they'll go to their children IF THEY EVER HAVE ANY!! hehe xox
WoW!!You guys really worked hard! Whay 2 Go!!!
Question... How many hours a day do you devote to school??? My younger one (9) seems to finish in about 4 hours (includes breaks and kunch). My older one (12) worked for 7 hours today. Does this seem fair? Am I giving too much???
WoW! Maybe I should go back to school with my horrible spelling. LOL
I am not looking forward to Lego Days. My house looks like that 90 percent of the time without the Legos...why add them to the mess. :)
Your "after" pictures are lovely! What a wonderful place for a guest to sleep. Y'all did a great job.
A few grandsons are quite into Legos so we do have times when we do lego clean up. But they are such wonderful entertainment and educational as well.
Whew.. well done!! hugs NG
Whoa! I thought my boys had a lot of Legos! Seems like for the last two weeks, my boys have done nothing but Legos and at least once or twice a day I find myself saying "Someone dropped a Lego on the floor!" Yes, I'm a little compulsive about keeping them contained but I also have an 18 mo. old that seems to be able to hear one hit the carpet and in a second she's got it ready to stick in her mouth! She has the duplo kind but of course she likes the tiny ones better. Alas, I know they are good for hand/eye coordination and I'm glad the boys play with those for hours instead of video games. Have fun, Kelli!
What a difference a day makes! Looks ready for company.
No, Miss Potter was not here for tea. Sigh. I would definitely have included ALL my homeschool friends if she had been. Who could resist an "author of the day" like that?
I think Legos breed. No matter how many you get rid of, put away, throw away or bury more always show up...usually pointy parts up under your bare feet! LOL
The room looks lovely now - and I love that Benjamin added a bear on the bed for his aunt!
The room looks cozy and ready for its new occupant. :)
LOoks great Kelli!
Excellent job, Kelli. Cleaning up legos is a chore. Stepping on them: OUCH!! I love the embroidery, very pretty.
I like legos but that looks like a big mess their. Atleast they are having fun. HaHa!
That had me laughing.
The later pics look great having the room cleaned up.
That looks much better. I hope she enjoys her stay...
Hi Kelli! I am sure Philip's siter will appreciate the efforts you made for cleaning Benjamin's room! And how nice that she'll even have her own teddy bear! ;-))
Hey, good news! When we watered the garden yesterday, we met "our" toad again! I even managed to get some pictures for you! Hey, why are all those toads so shy? I told him not to move but he hopped away.... ;-))
What a great job! A room fit for an auntie! :)
The room looks terrific, good job!
Is there anything better than walking into a room and promptly stepping on to the sharpest lego in the world?
Have a wonderful visit!
Wow - you want to come over here and help me with stuff? LOL. Looks great, Kelli!
Our HUGE TUB of legos is in the attic awaiting Grandchildren. I will send it to THEIR house. =) Joshua loved legos and being an only child it was something he could play with by himself. I have too many little ones over here now to get the legos out.
You cleaned it up very nicely.
looks like you are all ready for your company... but if I know Lego's there is still one lurking under the corner of the bed or dresser waiting for someone to get up in the middle of the night and step on him !!
but I'm sure your company doesn't mind... I know I don't mind my Grand Kids Lego's in my chair or anywhere they happen to be found.
p.s. thanks for visiting my blog
LOL!! Your legos are worse than our stuffed animals!! The after picture looks great!! Good work.
Pumpkin's just heading into Lego Land... I think he would love some. Some. I think I'll just go get a *little* set of those duplos-sized ones for him. (I'm afraid if I mention it to Gramma, he'll have more than what's on your floor!)
I know somebody who buys big sacks of lego, sorts them according to the colors and sells the sorted lego on ebay. He earns a lot of money with his lego.
You have so many legos - maybe you can do anything similar :)
Leggos are bad, that's true. I am even less fond of Polly Pocket shoes! I don't pick them up. I get out the vacuum cleaner! I can't believe I told you that. Don't tell my daughter. (hee, hee)
Now you see it ... Now you don't! ;op
P.S. Enjoy your company! :o)
