Kitchen Canisters

Thank you for sharing your summer menu ideas with me yesterday. It sounds like a lot of us grill and make salads this time of year. Several of you asked me a few questions and I will get to them soon!
Hutch
I spent Tuesday afternoon moving some things around in my kitchen. I got the dishes down from the hutch, and the top of the oven and fridge. Everything needed a good dusting and then I had fun rearranging it all.

Canisters
I especially wanted to make room for my canisters.

Canister
So, what do I have inside them?

Coffee
Coffee. I have to start the morning off right. :0)

Sugar
Sugar

Tea
Various teabags

Cookies
Tea biscuits

Tea
Do you have a set of kitchen canisters? If so, what do you keep in them?

Such pretty canisters. Since I don't drink coffee (makes me ill!) and my sweetheart only drinks it sporadically we keep it in the freezer. The canister that would most likely hold coffee holds RAISINS!!! My sweetheart likes to put raisins on his cereal and it's convenient. The other canisters hold the usual flour and sugar and there are teabags in the small one. It may sound a bit strange but it works for us. ~Adrienne~

Hi Kelli, I love the cannisters, they look so pretty. I have glass ones and they keep bouillon cubes, sugar, anis blocks to make anis milk and vermicelli for the soup. I want to make more, but first I want to go to the goodwill store to look if they have glass cannisters. They're not always available here.
Have a great day and thank you so much for the lovely napkin rings ideas !!!

These are so pretty Kelli. I don't have a set, but you've inspired me to be thinking about them. I should look at various types. Have a lovely day. Kathi

I have nothing in my cannisters on the kitchen counter. But I use glass ones from an antique store to hold coffee, sugar and flour in. I love yours. I like looking through antique stores at some olds ones every now and then.

Love peeking in on your blog. You have such wonderful pictures. You did't displease me today. Your canisters are very pretty. I would show them off too! I don't have canisters. I like clean counters. Call me the Tupperware Qyeen.

Those are lovely! And the hutch is so pretty, too.

I just have the old Tupperware cannisters -- not very attractive, but they do shield against bugs and humidity, both factors in SC. We have limited counter space, so mine are in a lazy-Susan type cabinet

I don't have any. But if we have bug problems in our new home, I may have to invest in a few to keep my baking stuff in, so we'll have to wait and see.
I like my kitchen to be as clutter free as possible. The more room I have, the better :-)

Hugs,
Dawn

Alas, I do not have a canister set. Perhaps I will find one this summer at a sale or thrift store. Yours is lovely. Are you all finished with your school routines for the year? We finished last week and I already feel such a relaxed pace at hand. Have a great day, friend.

I have a beautiful set of Fitz & Floyd vegetable cannisters (that I got for a steal at a sidewalk sale), but after 11 years my kitchen has evolved and I'm a little tired of them. Luckily, I found another great sale and my mom has bought me another set for my (upcoming) birthday. They're Spode Blue Italian! Yea! Oh--and I keep flour, sugar and cornmeal in mine, but I'm thinking of switching the cornmeal out for the coffee. That would be more practical!

Hi Kelli,
I love your cannisters! I pictured mine in last Friday's Show N Tell (with the roosters)
(Flour, sugar, coffee and teabags fill mine)

I loved my canisters when I received them, but found out quickly that they just didn't work out for me, at least once we moved to the home we have now. I sold them at a yardsale.

I put sugar into an old powdered creamer container so it's easy to pour, and my flour stays in the freezer. Coffee I like to keep in the fridge, as long as there is room. I just have so little counterspace, and a tiny kitchen, that pretty things aren't very practical. So only my turquoise retro cookbooks and retro scale stay for decoration.

Have a wonderful day!

I love your canisters. Anything with flowers makes me happy. I use coffee singles because I'm the only one who drinks coffee. I make my coffee in the microwave unless we have company. Then I do the real thing.

I have many glass canisters and canning jars. I fill them with grains of all different colors.

Yellow cornmeal, white hominy grits, red kidney beans, green split peas, black eyed peas, etc.

I choose glass jars so that I can display the colors and also to remind me of all that I learned over the past two year regarding cooking from scratch.

Two years ago you would have found my cabinet filled with every boxed or canned meal available.

So that's what in my jars.

I have vintage reproduction canisters that are in the red bookcase (in the kitchen) that my hubby used in his childhood bedroom. It actually held books at the time. Go figure...

I LOVE your canisters, so pretty.

Hi Kelli,

What a lovely set of cannisters - so pretty and they look so nice on your hutch! I love seeing how others decorate.

I have some prim glass cannisters with pasta, dried orange slices, cinnamon sticks, star anise and bay leaves on my counter. My two stoneware cannisters hold regular and decaf coffee!

I won a give away - stop over and see my treasure! hugs, Linda

Your canisters are lovely! And I put different things in mine too. I have a set of vintage Kromex brushed aluminum canisters that I store my basics in (flour, sugar, coffee and Tea) and I have a set of cobalt blue glass canister jars that I store more teas, Splenda, etc. in. Then I just bought a great set of country canisters that look like old advertising tins. (they are currently empty, but I'll store powered sugar, brown sugar, chocolate chips and nuts in those.

Most of my house is in vintage country style.

I love you covered cake stand. I've been looking at them when I go shopping. Penney's has a pretty one that looks like pink depression glass.

Thanks for all the inspiration.

Lovely canisters. I've had several different sets through the years. I've always had a set of canisters sitting in my kitchen - for 50 years. The first ones were pink plastic. The ones I have now are solid white. The ones that first come to my mind are ones I had in the 70s from Sears with mushrooms on them. I always keep flower, sugar, coffee and tea in them.

Kelli, I love your cannisters! All are so pretty! Many times I wanted to purchase the type you have, but I always worried about storing the flour and sugars; especially during the summer when it gets humid, so I mainly store the flour and sugars in my Tupperware canisters. I have several sets. They may not look as pretty, like the ones you have displayed, but they do keep he items fresh.
