I was looking through some old pictures last night, and found some of Grace and Emily decorating pumpkins. They were so little!! And
Last night Nana, Papa and Uncle Jonathan came over to help us decorate pumpkins. First, we cut out the tops.
Then, we scooped out the insides. Be sure to save the seeds!
Time to transfer the pattern onto the pumpkin.
Mmmm...roasted pumpkin seeds!
Roasted Pumpkin Seeds
1 1/2 cups raw whole pumpkin seeds
2 teaspoons butter, melted
1/2 teaspoons salt (you can add more or less)
Preheat oven to 300F. Toss seeds in a bowl with the melted butter and salt. Spread the seeds in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake for about 45 minutes or until golden brown, stir occasionally.
Here are the finished pumpkins!!!
A sweet little kitty. Meow.
We carved a horse for Grace, of course!
Here is my pumpkin owl, inspired by Martha Stewart. Don't worry, he's friendly!
And because I love knock knock jokes, I will leave you with one of my favorite ones....
What are you...an Owl?
Thanks for looking!
Your pumpkins are lovely and especially the owl!
Your pumpkins are gorgeous! I enjoyed all the pictures :)
Love the pictures of the girls when the were younger - how sweet! The pumpkins look great. Have fun tonight!
We worked on our pumpkins last night too and I've got a nice jar of roasted seeds sitting on the counter. I think that may be one of MY favorite treats of the season.
Your pies look great. :) I wish my family liked apple pies, but alas, they do not. Your crusts look lovely too... Perhaps you could e-mail me the recipe whenever you get a moment; mine never seems to work out the way I want it to...
Trick or treat Kelli!
What a sweet post. I love the idea of your whole family carving pumpkins together...and oh what pumpkins! They all turned out marvelous!
