Christmas Crafts~Homemade Gift Tags and Bags

If you have old Christmas cards this is the perfect time to get them out. I'm going to show you some gift tags that I made from my old ones.

I used oval, circle and square templates. Place the template on the part of the card you'd like to use, trace with a pen and cut out.

You can use straight or decorative edged scissors.

If you have cards with patterns, you can turn these into pretty gift tags too.

Simply place a gift tag pattern on the card, trace and cut out.

Punch a hole at the top and they are ready for some ribbon.

Several of my card had glittery edges so I put them to good use too.

I cut them into strips.

And layered them criss-cross on a cardstock gift tag.

I also added little bows.

BagsNow for the gift bags! Dawn from The Feathered Nest recently shared this wonderful tutorial on how to make these Very Easy Gift Bags.

I used sheet music scrapbook paper(on the right) and I also copied some sheet music I had onto white printer paper.

The greenery is from our Christmas tree.

I glued the sheet music onto the front of the brown paper gift bags. Then tied the greenery and gift tag together with ribbon and tied a bow.

I attached it to the bag of a little hot glue.

All ready for gifts! Let me know if you try any of these ideas!

Great ideas for using up those old cards. I think my kids would love to make these!

I did gift tags like that this year, too. I love the bags!

That is such a beautiful and practical way to use up old Christmas cards. As for the bags, all I can say is, "oh, my goodness" I LOVE THEM!! They are absolutely beautiful ~ if you would have purchased those at Hallmark they would have cost a fortune and what makes it even better is that the recipient is getting something you made just for them:o)

Oh, I am so going to try this! Thanks. I got out a bag of cards from last year and the kids used some to make cards for their different leaders. We had a great time. Now I can see how this would be fun for them too.

How beautiful! Wrapping gifts is half the fun of giving them. :o) I have loads of beautiful trimmings that I can't bear to part with, LOL! The sheet music idea is especially lovely!

Hope that you guys are having a beautiful, festive holiday season!

I;m not as crafty is you....but the old card thing is a grand idea. i bought tags with a stamp kit this year. But I'm putting this idea into my Christmas Folder for next year.....the bags look great.

That is a great idea because I hate to toss the beautiful Christmas cards I receive every year. I also thought of using them to make covers for cds if you like to burn your own Christmas music cds either for yourself or as gifts.

Kelli~ yyou are CRAZY!

Golly. You'll never guess...

I just spent the afternoon making gift tags myself from old Christmas cards and some vintage clipart I printed out!

Tomorrow night the ladies of our church are having a cookie exchange and we always make about 25 bags for the college students in our church (it is college town there)as they study for finals. Anyway, the craft for tomorrow is gift tags/ornaments. Unfortunately, we are heading out to see Matt's parents this weekend and so I can't attend, but I am going to be dropping off the cookies, fudge, and some supplies-and since I was doing THAT, someone asked if I could make a few 'examples' for the less creative bunch that might come.

Sometimes it freaks me out-the parallels between you and I. Well. Not really. I think it is just plain cool. But in a crazy sort of way! :-)

Great job on yours!
