Cream Cheese Banana Nut Bread
I have been making the same banana bread for the last 12 years. This past Friday I tried my friend, Linda's Cream Cheese Banana Bread and it is now my new favorite recipe!
The recipe makes two loaves which is nice because one is never enough! I actually made one regular loaf and three mini loaves.
We had unexpected company Friday night and this was a perfect snack. Thank you for sharing the recipe with me, Linda!
Cream Cheese Banana Nut Bread
3/4 cup butter softened
1- 8oz. cream cheese, softened
2 cups sugar
2 large eggs
3 cups self rising flour
3-4 medium sized mashed bananas
1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
1/2 tea. vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350. Beat butter and cream cheese until creamy. Gradually add sugar, beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs 1 at a time beating until just blended. Gradually add the flour to the mixture, beating at low speed until just blended. Stir in bananas, nuts and vanilla. Spoon batter into two greased and floured 8x4 loaf pans. Bake for 50-60 minutes. (if it starts getting too brown, put some aluminum foil over the top. Remove from pans and cool on wire rack.
Makes 2 loaves. Recipe reprinted with permission.
The leftovers made a wonderful Saturday morning breakfast. Let me know if you make some too!

I made some this afternoon. It was easy to make and so yummy....
I found out how to make self rising flour
1C reg flour
1.5 t baking powder
.5 t salt
I'm glad I added that!! :)
This sounds so good will have to try it, thank you!
I have one in the oven right now, cant wait to taste :o) It looks really good. Thank you for sharing.
Still making his keeper over 2 yrs later!!!
Thanks so much for the recipe. I love it! :)
Kelli, this recipe looks and sounds wonderful and I can't wait to try it! Is there anything you DON'T do? :)
I tried our this recipe today and followed it exactly. They turned out great! I'll admit I was a bit concerned because the batter was super thick so I thought the loaves might be dense. I made one loaf pan without nuts for hubby and mixed chopped pecans in the rest which I baked as muffins. The texture came out very light and fluffy. The cream cheese gives it just a hint of tang. This will be my new go to recipe when I've got overripe bananas in the house. Thanks!
can i substitute the self rising flour to all purpose flour? i really wanna try this out! hope to hear something from you. 😊
You can substitute all purpose flour, if you add either baking soda or baking powder (I can't remember) and maybe salt. I would google recipes for self rising flour. Good luck!
Thank you for this recipe it's so easy and yummy and my husband says thank you to. I also added dried cranberries to the recipe this time hope the bread is as good as it was the first time I made it
